Summary: Recent kernel32 patch breaks CD checks and copy
protection
Product: Wine
Version: CVS/GIT
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Keywords: regression
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: kernel32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ben(a)atomnet.co.uk
Some (many) games have now stopped working, showing the following when trying
to run:
[enverex@Xenith ../Winedows/Games/Starcraft]$ wine StarCraft.exe
fixme:ntoskrnl:KeInitializeTimerEx 0x110ab0 0
fixme:fiber:FlsAlloc 0x15008bba: stub!
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk "storm.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for
L"C:\\Games\\Starcraft\\StarCraft.exe" failed, status c0000142
The layout is the same for each one, i.e. Battlefield 2 fails the same way, but
instead with MSCVRT7.1.dll instead of Storm.dll (but other than that the
message is identical).
Dimity's test (which fixed this) was to comment out lines starting Fls*
(FlsAlloc etc.) in the kernel32.spec file before compiling.

Annotated trace
I've installed Civ IV 1.61 + NOCD with wine 0.9.45. Installation worked, but
the program wouldn't start.
Now with 0.9.46, the program still fails to start but with another error
message.
I've included a trace as an attachement. I've also included a screenshot of the
error message that pops up.
I'm running with the lowest possible settings in the games graphics, I have a
256MB graphics card and I've tried to set Video RAM in regedit to both 64MB and
256MB.

I am still experiencing this with my onboard azalia soundcard. Currently I am
working around it by using voice trigger, but I still want to see push to talk
working.

Hi Wine Team,
i have installed Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) and with the help wine i can working with
Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 on Linux.
Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 working good, but now is here this problem:
When i need delete some midi-event from Track, i must open list editor -
View/Event List. This Event List is a new small window. In this window i can
see all midi-events in a Track. Here (in List Editor) i can move with cursor
over cells and insert/modify/delete midi-events. When i insert/modify
midi-event, all working ok. When i need delete some midi-event program working
not normal. Normally i push Delete and midi-event is out of list. Now after
delete action midi-event is out of list, but cursor self-acting skip to next
cell and opening this next cell to edit mode (quasi enter key depression).
This bug is in wine version: 1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.1.5, 1.1.6, 1.1.7
Older wine verions like 0.9.60 are without this bug and working normal.
Best regards, Milan Mlich.

Divide by zero crash in comctl32 when starting up a program (chief architect).
This does not happen if I replace comctl32.dll.so with an older version of the
libarary (from cxoffice 6.2, I'm not sure which version of WINE that
corresponds to).
Bactrace etc... attached.

Is this still an issue in current (1.1.20 or newer) wine?

If you cycle through your open pictures with Ctrl + Tab the LayerPalette seems
to cycle (it changes its content) but the actual picturewindow doesn't come to
the front.
