Ok, it seems the KMS problem is actually related to this:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21515
It can be fixed by following those steps and/or patching wine according to the
discussion in bug 21515, but the drivers and kernel kms isn't quite to the
point of being ready.
Though the error that I am currently running into at least has a kernel patch
already. Perhaps kernel 2.6.34 will fix morrowind on open drivers!

Summary: Acunetix Web Vulnerability Scanner 6.5 output in
Console Scanner without newlines
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.39
Platform: x86-64
URL: http://www.acunetix.com/vulnerability-scanner/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

Screenshot of output without newlines
The program has a console scanner (wvs_console.exe) which when run without
arguments displays some help in the console, but in Wine the output is missing
newlines which makes it nearly impossible to overview and use. The output is
nicely set-up (newlined) on Windows.
Note: program does not run without native msxml3 possibly due to bug
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21651 - therefore I'm currently using
msxml3.
Running Arch Linux x86_64 with Wine 1.1.39 openSUSE x86_64 build.

Output from git bisect
This is my first time in trying to do this. I downloaded the source code
yesterday and started to compile today. I went to the "RegressionTesting" page
on the wiki and followed the steps including going on to reading about "git
bisect" (external) before continuing. I decided to give it a go. Output is in
attachment. (Sorry if this is a duplicate of a bug report already. However, I
did search.)

then the error remains.

Unity3d won't install on Wine for the moment, so
install Unity3d under Windows, then boot to linux and
transfer the Unity directory over. Run Unity and
let it do an online registration. This takes a minute
on Windows, but seems to take forever on Linux; I haven't
seen it finish.

I'm not sure of the difference between the original San Andreas (which I lost)
and the Second Edition (which I just bought), but the original worked well
under wine, the Second won't run at all.
My guess is related to the fixme also included in the attachment:
fixme:ntdll:server_ioctl_file Unsupported ioctl 2d0c04 (device=2d access=0
