wine output after switching virtual desktops
I have been using Dragon Age: Origins under wine since version 1.1.33. After
upgrading from 1.1.40 to 1.1.41, the game now fails to start at least nine
times out of ten. The launcher program starts, and when I click Play, the
splash image appears in the center of my screen, but it doesn't go away and the
opening EA / BioWare movie never plays. If I then switch to another virtual
desktop and back again, I find the splash image has disappeared and wine has
produced error output (which I will attach to this bug report).
I used git bisect to narrow down the regression. Here's the output from the
final step:
$ git bisect bad

wined3d: Add a quirk to rebind FBOs when one of their attached textures is
updated.
Updating a texture while it is attached to the currently bound FBO is
something GL implementations tend to get wrong. NVIDIA fails at
glTexSubImage2D(), fglrx and Mesa with glTexImage2D(). I'm afraid to try
what
happens on OS X. Fortunately we never use glTexImage2D() while a texture is
attached to an FBO, so we only need to care about glTexSubImage2D().

Compare screenshots. The color is off in the wine one, but that's not the
problem (I couldn't time the screenshot right, so I took a video with instanbul
then screenshoted that in vlc). The problem is how the 'box' scrolls off to the
right once the loading screen nearly completes. Does not occur in windows 7.

New steam February beta cannot draw UI to screen. Program does NOT crash or
hang.
The two main recurring errors are
* Corrupt JPEG data: 57 extraneous bytes before marker 0xdb
* fixme:threadpool:RtlQueueWorkItem Flags 0x4 not supported
along with one error on startup:
* fixme:win:RegisterDeviceNotificationA (hwnd=0x10110,
filter=0x32dc00,flags=0x00000004) returns a fake device notification handle!
There ARE other minor errors relating to network code, but as the program
connects to the steam network these don't seem particularly relevant at this
time.
Also worth noting: the font on the notification applet steam icon menu (and
presumably all steam menus) fails to draw. This can be fixed by changing
basefontbold="Arial Bold" to "basefontbold=Arial Black" in
/steam/resource/styles/steam.styles
Full log from execute to connected attached.

Fiesta Online (available from http://fiesta-online.gamigo.com) was (and still
is) playable in at least wine versions 1.1.31-1.1.37. It became unplayable due
to very low frame rates as of 1.1.38.
I'm sorry I can't give any more details about the possible cause.

wined3d: Do not preload surfaces when attaching them to an FBO.
Just make sure the texture is allocated, so we have something to attach.
Note
also that context_apply_attachment_filter_states() runs under the GL lock,
so
preloading resources is actually unsafe there.

Example of pallet errors
Somewhere between 1.1.28 and 1.1.33 there was a regression in Riven that cause
the colour pallet in still images within the game to be corrupt/wrong. (See
attached image for example) Videos and the cursor are unaffected.
I did regression testing and came up with this:
