(wine-1.3.1-182-g56b8d5d) I remember playing KOTOR1 not very long ago and I don't think it took that long to install. The only console output is fixme:shdocvw:PersistStreamInit_Load (0x12ee78)->(0x33e924) fixme:shdocvw:OleControl_FreezeEvents (0x12ee78)->(1) fixme:shdocvw:OleControl_FreezeEvents (0x12ee78)->(0) And a few seconds later: fixme:shdocvw:WebBrowser_Stop (0x12ee78) Then, an empty "Alert" window with only an OK button and a red cross image appears, and under this window the EULA. Only the following output is given: fixme:shdocvw:OleInPlaceObject_InPlaceDeactivate (0x12ee78) fixme:shdocvw:OleObject_Close (0x12ee78)->(1) Clicking Disagree on the EULA closes the app and outputs: err:dialog:EndDialog got invalid window handle ((nil)); buggy app !? Deleted wine dir and starting reinstalling again, with the export LANG='en_GB.utf8' workaround. Setup image was corrupted and it crashed on a dll too. Only thing i can think of that changed was upgraded kernel. cdemu is a kernel module so i uninstalled and installed again just in case - no difference. uname -a : Linux AIVAS 2.6.32-24-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Thu Aug 19 01:38:40 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux I attach the clean wine setup crash, if you also want the game copy smacker32w.dll one it is also possible (but i thought it wouldn't interest you since it's a unusual configuration of the game). Run "wine winecfg" 2. Under the Graphics tab, enable "Emulate a virtual desktop" 3. Close the window and run "wine winecfg" again Note that the winecfg window is not inside of a virtual desktop. The reason I use virtual desktops is because so many games on wine seem to forget to restore my desktop resolution when they exit or crash.
