Bug #: 31928
Summary: directplay hangs on exiting multiplayer
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Mac OS X
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: winsock
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: paulthetall(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
Hi Guys,
I am cathcing this issue up again which is never solved by the way on the Mac
at least. The hanging on multiplayer when having directplay wintricked
(applied) Multiplayer is possible but it hangs on exiting. Tons of games (all
using directplay/ tcp/ip) are infected. Some of the games:
Age of Empires, Age of Empires 2, Commandos 3, Baldurs Gate 1 + 2, Praetorians,
Imperial glory, Fallout series, and loads of others...
Here the +winsock output for age of Empires 2: http://pastebin.com/t1DXwDBS
Hope you guys can find a fix soon :) Games should exit proper when ending a
multiplayer game. Wine should be advanced enough to fix this bug right?
Many thanks in avdance

League of Legends (latest version at this date -post World Championship)
crashes at champion selection. Usually a few actions are possible before crash,
but it always happens after a few seconds of the display of champion selection
screen.
Also, but maybe not the same bug, a similar error occurs randomly (e.g.
sometimes when alt-tabbing).
No debug info available, cf log.

I patched wine to 1.5.15 today and now uplay starts up and freezes after a few
seconds.
There was no difference in how I set up wine, both versions were automatically
installed via gentoos emerge (same useflags).
I don't know exactly what causes this, but I assume it may be related to the
changes in windowed mode.
Anyways I think this is a regression since it worked flawlessly in 1.5.14 and
I'll try to downgrade my wineprefix.
I've attached the wineoutput (stripped the starting part which is the same as
in 1.5.14 and related to the patcher not uplay).

Backtrace of PWI hang
Hi...
I think this an ntdll problem, because that's what the backtrace seems to
indicate. But, I don't have enough background to know for sure so I'm
catagorizing the component as unknown.
Running Fedora 17 with 32bit wine 1.5.14 on an x86_64 with NVidia
PWI hangs soon after I get in the game. So I run the game from the console with
the following results.
I can get in the game, but soon thereafter the game hangs. If I press [Ctrl][c]
in the console that I'm running the game from I get an error dialogue box. I
click on it and the game of course closes. However, the game seems to function
for awhile, but soon thereafter hangs again. One time it took down the whole
comuter :/ eeek.
In any case, attached is the backtrace.
Thanks for looking into this.

Bug #: 31934
Summary: fglrx returns wrong values for
GL_MAX_FRAGMENT_UNIFORM_COMPONENTS_ARB and
GL_MAX_TEXTURE_UNIFORM_COMPONENTS_ARB
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.14
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux

Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d

add fglrx quirk
After much digging, I have found what appears to be a long-standing bug with
fglrx drivers.
Discussion from 2009:
http://phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?15108-Catalyst-9-1-is-out/page11http://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2012/06/05/%23ubuntu-x.html
Upstream: http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=528
fglrx reports a value of 1024 for GL_MAX_FRAGMENT_UNIFORM_COMPONENTS_ARB and
GL_MAX_TEXTURE_UNIFORM_COMPONENTS_ARB for any application named "wine" but will
report the correct value for other applications. (I do not know why)
As a result, certain graphical applications (e.g. Guild Wars 2) report "The
hardware does not support enough uniform components to run this shader, it may
not render correctly." and then run at a reduced framerate.
The attached patch adds a WINED3D_QUIRK to set the correct value on certain
families of Radeon HD video cards.
My research has found that the corrected value of 16384 should be correct on
any Radeon dx10 cards from HD2xxx through HD6xxx. (With HD7xxx being a
redesigned card, it actually only reports 1024 via glxinfo, and should not need
this)
Results: Higher framerates, ability to use more advanced GPU features in game
options, and lower GPU temperatures (!).
(Tested with a Radeon HD 6950, linux 3.2.0-31, fglrx 8.980, wine 1.5.14)

This is still an issue in 1.5.14, and most likely in 1.5.15 will try it out
soon enough.
