Summary: Mouse doesn't release when moving/resizing Steam
window
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.36
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: wine(a)placesthroughtime.com
Classification: Unclassified
The Steam window, when resized or moved shortly after changing tabs, ex. from
Store to Library or visa versa, will act as though the mouse has not been
released after it has been and will remain in its state of resize/move window.
Possibly also related to this, shortly after starting steam and attempting to
move the window occasionally the mouse will stick but the cursor will move
itself to above the Steam window and any attempt to move back within the window
will force it away from the cursor.

When Sonic R is run with the Direct3D renderer, it has some rendering issues
(various objects have a green background instead of transparent) as seen in
this screenshot: http://appdb.winehq.org/appimage.php?iId=9421
The DirectDraw renderer works without this problem. According to bug 21878,
comment 5, it's a regression caused by:
commit c8901d6f6253f6c97610eb1068ac4ff89758ed0a

ddraw: Rewrite most of ddraw using WineD3D.
Attachment 36962 from that bug fixes the issue.
The demo has the same problem. It will most likely crash on startup due to a
game bug unless the CPU power available to it is limited somehow, e.g. by
running a program with high CPU usage while starting it.

Summary: Suggestion: Editbox with terminal output in crash
window
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P5
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: VincentBeers(a)gmail.com
This is a feature request, not a bug.
Wine has an utterly useless "the application has crashed" window, or at least,
it had for a while, I don't know if that has changed. Anyway, I think said
window should have an unfoldable edit box containing all the terminal output of
the application up to its crash, and a button to copy the content in this edit
box. Finally, the crash description should indicate that you should copy that
text and bring it to the Wine forums in order to get help/troubleshooting.
Why? Because it makes giving feedback on Wine apps a lot quicker. A lot of us
do actually run Wine apps from the terminal, but most newbies don't, and this
is a way to assist them helping the Wine devs know about the problem a lot more
quickly than the usual routine, which is:
- Make a forum thread about how the app doesn't work, with little to no further
info;
- Have someone tell you to run in terminal;
- Possibly learn to use the terminal, then run the app from there;
- (At this point, a day may have passed) Run back to the forums with actual
terminal output.
Adding the text box with the terminal output straight into the "application
crashed" window not only makes the window actually useful, but it also
eliminates the delay that exists because new users may have to be assisted in
actually running the app from terminal.
Further notes: of course, from that point, the user may be advised as to how to
run the app from terminal anyway, but at least for this time, or for any time
when they just want to double-click an app to run, they'll get the actual log
much more quickly.

The Atlantis Word Processor works otherwise perfectly, but the main window does
not appear on the Ubuntu/Gnome taskbar panel nor in the alt-tab quick switch
list. If the system is configured to only have one virtual desktop, there is no
way to access the window if it gets hidden by another window. With multiple
virtual desktops in use, the taskbar "button" for Atlantis gets wrongly placed
on the *second* virtual desktop, while the window itself opens on the first one
as expected.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 amd64 with wine 1.3.17 from the WineHQ PPA Repository.
The program itself is a 32-bit Windows executable. I have also tried this with
the Ubuntu wine1.2 package, but it has the same problem.
A demo can be downloaded here:

In wine-1.3.19-203-gf555c2d, the launcher screen is non-functional, instead
showing the raw html code. Native ie7 gets a working launcher.

'Clones' is a nice Lemmings clone.
After choosing to play the game in single-player mode, the game is stuck on the
level selection screen: clicking on anything on the screen does nothing. The
keyboard is still working and pressing 'q' brings up a window where I can
choose to quit the game (by using the mouse).
Interestingly the bug only appears when selecting single-player mode: no such
problem when entering the multiplayer menu of the game.
The game works without the issue in Wine-1.3.6 and here's the result of the

The patch can be reverted cleanly on top of Wine-1.3.10 and that fixed the
issue.
How to reproduce the problem in the demo:
1. After installation launch the game by ../Bin/ClonesGame.exe
2. Create a new profile then choose the first option in the main menu, named
'Pilgrimage'.
3. A level selection screen is shown but you can't proceed further because the
game is stuck.

1. Make sure to keep running an application (e.g.: text editor or terminal,
preferred non-MDI) that opens a window selectable in Alt+Tab keyboard function
of the window manager (tested on Metacity), used to switch windows on the
desktop environment.
2. Download sample application and run it on wine:
http://www.torry.net/vcl/forms/other/mditab.zip
3. The application shows the main window, which gains focus of the window
manager (Metacity).
4. Select File on main menu, then choose New.
5. A new child window is opened inside main window. Both main and child windows
are focused.
6. When pressing Alt+Tab on keyboard, the first selected window is the child
window of the wine application itself. On MS-Windows the first selected window
would be the one of another application.
7. When pressing Alt+Tab again to return to wine application, only the child
window is focused.
8. With only the child window focused, pressing Alt+Tab again first selects
window of another application as happens on MS-Windows.
Expected behavior: when the Alt+Tab function is used, the first selected window
should be of another application. Also, when focus returns to the MDI
application, both main and child window should be focused, not only child
window. Using other non-Delphi MDI applications (eg: Wine File Manager), when
switching back to it with Alt+Tab, both main and child window are focused, as
happens on MS-Windows.

DVD Profiler's 'general' windows contains a link called 'view contributors'.
The 'general' screen appears to be a part of the application. If you follow
this link, it opens a new window showing contributions for that profile. This
screen appears to be an html page rendered in an application window. I make
this distinction because of the different performance.
The main windows of the application perform (more or less) as you would expect,
but some of the html-based windows do not function correctly. In the 'view
contributors' window, you can not scroll or follow links (although a scroll
mouse wheel will scroll the page and the icon changes as you move over a link).
If I install IE6 using winetricks, the screen allows scrolling by clicking with
the mouse, but links still do not work.

dinput: Clip the mouse to the entire window instead of a 1x1 rectangle in
exclusive mode.
The easiest way to see the problem is to
1) download and install the demo (I'll add the download link)
2) go to the graphics options and disable fog and water effects (water effects
work fine in the latest Wine, fog doesn't)
3) start a new game and move forward (Z-key) to exit the "movement tutorial"
4) skip the introduction movie via Esc
5) press the f key to switch to mouse look mode
6) move the mouse/trackpad around
In step 6, you should be able to look around 360 degrees. The breaking commit
limits the area in which you can look around to about 90 degrees (sometimes you
can break out of it, and the area is not always the same 90 degrees). In
particular, looking down is almost completely disabled most of the time.
Sometimes, after pressing Esc to activate the in-game menu, the mouse cursor
will also be stuck to a particular area of the screen. Quickly moving the
cursor around sometimes allows you to break free of those areas.
I'm using a 13" MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.6.8 and XQuartz 2.7.1_rc1 (same
problem with XQuartz 2.7.0)

I have an in-house windows app.
It's an image viewer that creates a full-screen window to do slideshows.
When you exit the slideshow, the mouse works fine in the windows app's window,
but it doesn't work anywhere else on the linux desktop.
If you alt+tab away from the windows app, then the mouse starts working
everywhere again.
I've had this problem in various environments under ubutnu, including unity 3d
and lubuntu.
The weird thing is I can't reproduce it in fedora 16 under lxde. Also, I tried
crossover on ubuntu (lubuntu 11.10), and it doesn't do it either.
I was able to fix it for myself by doing this in mouse.c (in wine-1.4-rc1)
BOOL clip_fullscreen_window( HWND hwnd, BOOL reset )
{
struct x11drv_win_data *data;
struct x11drv_thread_data *thread_data;
RECT rect;
DWORD style;
/* HACK? */
return FALSE;
I think what's happening is wine is making an invisible window and grabs the
pointer to it, and wine doesn't get rid of this window or ungrab the pointer
when it's supposed to. My app works fine without this behavior (works fine if
clip_fullscreen_window() always returns false).

observe, that the activated menu options remain on the screen even after you
switched to another menu (e.g. press <F1> to open the about window, then click
on the <Ok> button. The about window remains on the screen.)
These issues can be worked around with a native msvcp60.dll

Summary: DDO - Silent crash at login
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2-rc6
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.6
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: openal32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: p_monkey99(a)hotmail.com
CC: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Under recent versions of Wine, after logging in successfully (using PyLOTRO),
DDO will display the loading screen, and then crash silently before the
character select screen appears.
Reproducibility: Always
Steps to reproduce:
1) Open PyLOTRO.
2) Log into game.
Expected behavior:
Loading screen appears, blue bar fills up, character select screen appears.
Actual behavior:
Loading screen appears, blue bar fills up, game shuts down, displays the
PyLOTRO output window, which displays ***FINISHED***.
After some digging, it appears that this crash may be audio-related. The bug
first appears in Wine 1.1.30, and the one Mac-related fix listed in the
changelog for that version refers to OpenAL. Also, in previous versions of
Wine, after quitting the game the message "opena32.dll - cannot find exact
match; picking first". This message does not show up in later versions.
Haven't yet found a backtrace with any telling details, but this message does
show up in my debug log, starting with version 1.1.30:
err:gsm:GSM_DriverProc libgsm support not compiled in!
I haven't tested every version in between, but the crash does occur in 1.1.43,
.44, and all of the 1.2RC's. Tested on a MacBook Pro, Core 2 Duo 2.33, Radeon
Mobility x1600, OS X 10.6.4.

Summary: gdb proxy mode: allow interrupt from command line

A really simple way to allow SIGINT to break the debuggee
0) In gdb proxy mode an interrupt from the command line (e.g. Ctrl-C), which
should break the application debugged and bring up the gdb prompt, actually
kills winedb.exe (and the program being debugged). This leaves the terminal and
the gdb session in a confusing state (i.e. might need a "stty echo"). This
mostly makes running gdb proxy mode pointless.

Bug #: 29759
Summary: In exclusive mode/non fullscreen app, moving the
cursor can result in resizing window if cursor is
"virtually" on an window border
Product: Wine
Version: 1.4-rc1
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Created attachment 38639
--> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=38639
Attached is a capture when the problem is happening, I just fired after turning
right, and the window is now in "resize mode"
Tested on Skulltag 0.98d (windows version), but I guess similar behavior could
happen on other windowed app in exclusive mode.
For example, in windowed mode, when I move the mouse to the right (turning the
player right) and click (to fire), it will result in the window trying to
resize to the right instead of firing, and then doing garbage (firing
automatically, that sort of things).
I tested in "Virtual screen" mode of winecfg, I don't know if it happens in non
virtual screen mode.
I "guess" this bug is linked to this new feature :
"dinput: Clip the mouse to the entire window instead of a 1x1 rectangle in
exclusive mode."
Maybe the new rectangle should be 1 pixel smaller than the window size in order
to avoid system from catching the resize event.
I tried downgrading to the default ubuntu 11.10 version (1.3.28) and the bug
disappear.
