Bug #: 29931
Summary: DC Universe Online fails to start with nVidia driver
295.20
Product: Wine
Version: 1.4-rc4
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: 6tsukiyami9(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
I'm not sure if this is a Wine or nVidia bug, but with the 295.20 driver DC
Universe Online's launcher fails to start, freezing at the first black loading
screen and using up to 100% one core, giving the error i attached.
Googling a bit, it may actually stop working because it doesn't detect any
graphic card's driver, but somehow other applications (both native and run
through wine) don't seem to have any problem. Downgrading nVidia drivers back
to 290.10 seemingly fixed this.
To reproduce this bug:
- Download the installer from here: http://www.dcuniverseonline.com/
- Install it
- Run Launchpad.exe
Then it should stop on the black rectangle with SOE logo, and on the shell
you'll see the xml dump.
About my OS, I'm running Debian Sid x86_64, wine version 1.4-rc4.

Summary: Nancy drew game crashes on load
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: eyecreate(a)gmail.com
It's funny it's currently only happening on this one out of all 5-6 tried
before that work with Gold status in Wine, but #13, The Last Train seems to
start up and then stop with just a quick screen flash. It was hard to get any
information out of it, on one computer, it would make gnome-terminal disappear
and die when the game crashed. I tested this on another computer using
PlayonLinux to test it on all wine version(that I considered major) from 0.9.7
to current. The problem existed on all of them. Wine only spit out a few lines
of info when running it in a different terminal:
fixme:keyboard:X11DRV_LoadKeyboardLayout L"00000409", 0001: stub!
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DImpl_FillGLCaps OpenGL implementation supports 32 vertex
samplers and 32 total samplers
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DImpl_FillGLCaps Expected vertex samplers + MAX_TEXTURES(=8) >
combined_samplers
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x325054,0x00000000), stub!
I plan on posting this, if the fix isn't quick, at codeweavers, since I have a
subscription with them and more heads are better on hard to solve problems.

Summary: Dolphin 3.0.458 : Crashes on launch with unhandled

The dolphin gamecube/wii emulator crashes when launching. Sometimes it doesn't
crash if I run it in gdb or with strace. Here is the error:
WINEDEBUG=+seh wine Dolphin.exe:

I tried to do a backtrace with gdb, but it didn't give me any useful
information, even when compiling with "-ggdb" as the instructions here suggest:
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml
I'm running from a local build directory, and not from a gentoo install as
well, so nothing should be getting stripped.
This bug occurs with wine-1.5 but also with older versions such as wine-1.2. It
did not happen with my old system (Socket 775 E5200) but does with my new
system (Socket 1155 i5 2500k). Perhaps because the CPU is much more powerful
and so is causing some sort of timing issue, as strace or gdb allow it to run
sometimes, although it still may crash before entering a game, but after
launching the GUI. The operating system is mostly the same, although was
compiled for the new CPU with "-march=native". However, the older versions of
wine were compiled for my old system, so they shouldn't crash if that was the
issue.

Of course, but it's hard to implement/test if no one has the app ;).
Win95/Win98 aren't deprecated. DOS support is done using dosbox if available,
though there's still some DOS support, it's not fully removed yet.
