Summary: Agents of Mayhem has terrible performance after a few
seconds
Product: Wine
Version: 5.5

After loading Agents of Mayhem, the menu will start at ~60fps, but then after a
few seconds, it reverts to ~2fps (with a frametime of ~300-400ms). The issue
happens with both DXVK and WineD3D.
The CPU usage isn't particularly high, and the audio plays fine without any
glitches (pops would usually happen for extremely low framerates when cpu or
gpu limited), which led me to believe it might have something to do with the
sleep time. Changing the graphical preset makes no difference, but uncapping
the frame limit (from 60fps to Uncapped), it immediately doubles the frametime
(~300-400 to ~600-700ms), and reverting it back to capped immediately reverts
the frametime back to ~300-400ms.
Disabling esync/fsync makes no difference.

The complete output of wine.
I just installed wine-staging 3.13 (both amd64 and i386) on my Ubuntu 16.04.5
(xenial) x86_64 and try to install World Of Tanks and play it. The installer
downloads fine and installs fine. But when I open the game (with both `wine`
and `wine64`), the game loads fine and connects fine, but hangs forever *just
before* the garage screen opens up. Then I try to open it up through a terminal
so I can see the output log. There was a lot of log, but at the end there is
one line that says:
> [0805/162733:WARNING:cert_verify_proc_win.cc(108)] Unknown error -2146762482 mapped to net::ERR_FAILED
And after that the game hangs.

I kind of agree.
I was the one who introduced using capabilities over using run as root. This
was after a few users running as root successfully had malware nuke their
complete computer.
We have users currently using capabilities in a very dangerous way and some of
them are getting hurt by it. There is really no nice system either.
It would be good if we had like /etc/wine/security in that security item was a
list formated like
[wineprefix] [list of enabled capabilities]
Of course anything not on the enabled capabilities for a wine-prefix would be
dropped if wine had it. This would allow users to run some programs with
extra capabilities and others without instead of the current blanket allow all
or allow none usage people are doing.
Of course I would prefer if a method was found so capability options were not
required. I am accepting reality here we are going to have to live with some
users increase capabilities on wine but we need to make it as safe as possible.

Hello,
My opinion is that someone should investigate what the anti-cheat of
battlefield 4 is doing and change the staged patchset accordingly so that it's
not necessary to use other workarounds.
Regards.
