Bug #: 30155
Summary: secdrv.sys from SafeDisc v2.05.030 does not work
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: ntoskrnl
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: stefan(a)codeweavers.com
Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 39336

service,relay,winedevice,ntoskrnl log
SafeDisc 2.05.030 does not work out of the box. The user-visible symptom is
that the application exits with exit code 0 without any output. This affects
for example the Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 installer, which is safedisc
protected for some reason.
The problem seems to be related to the specific secdrv.sys version. If I take a
secdrv.sys from a newer safedisc version(e.g. 2.40.010 from the RA2 Yuri's
revenge expansion) and put it in C:\windows\system32\drivers, the installer
works.

Summary: Line wrapping with newlines in command line tool
output (ISCC.exe)
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Mac OS X
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: 20220321.winehq.org(a)darkart.com
[This was discovered using CrossOver by CodeWeavers, going from version 20.0.4
to 21.1.0 and CodeWeavers has asked me to open a bug here for it.]
Output from the command line tool "ISCC.exe" (part of the InnoSetup tools) now
has extra newlines that are doing line wrapping. Unfortunately this breaks up
words in the output which impedes our parsing of the output.
Example output when running under wine from CrossOver 21.1.0:
\r\r\n\u001b[?25h\u001b[?25lCopyright (C) 2001-2004 Alex Yackimoff. All rights
reserved.\r\r\n\u001b[?25h\r\r\n\u001b[?25lCompiler engine version: Inno Setup

28\r\r\n\u001b[?25h\u001b[?25lParsing [Setup] section, line 29\r\r\n\u001b[?25h
I believe the "[?25h" and "[?25l" are escape sequences that were not present
when running under CrossOver 20.0.4.
The '\r' and '\n' characters are showing up in what used to be single-line
text, like:
Using an external code-signing tool, pleas\r\r\ne attach your digital signature
to the following executable file
Note how the word "please" has been fragmented.

The first Army Men game has incorrect colors. This causes the cinematics to be
black, the in game colors to be crushed, for instance blue rivers become black
rivers, and the greens of the forest all become one color of green. It makes
things somewhat difficult to see. I have tested this on different computers
with different hardware to make sure. Someone mentioned it has something to do
with the bitmaps for the game not being converted properly.

Long story short, up to wine 8.8 you get about 2300fps with my 2080 and 9600K
in an old nvidia showcase. After that, it's more like 2150.
Of course it's just a little 7% difference, but it's completely reproducible,
so..
p.s. DXVK and the patch for bug 32323 are also needed to "unlock full speed"
(the sources clearly show a D3DXCreateFont call for Arial, but is it expected
to take a 40% framerate hit without the fonts otherwise?)
