We would like to split the AppDB and Bugzilla databases onto different hosts.
But right now this is impossible due to some queries doing a joins between
bugzilla and the appdb.
These will need to be re-written to do it in a different way.
The worst offender is testData.php ShowVersionsTestingTable method on line 685.
I'm sure there are other places as well.

Right now whenever someone attaches a .log file, Bugzilla auto-detects the mime
type as text/x-log. Many web browsers are set to download files with that mime
type, rather than just opening the file in the web browser. This is rather
annoying.
Can we change the mime types for .log files to text/plain instead? I believe
the code is in Bugzilla/Attachment.pm.

Program compiled and ready to run using mingw
WINE is buffering serial ports which is in conflict with using overlapped
reads. Additionally, when using overlapped reads on a serial port, there is a
large memory leak. Every time we receive a block of data on the port, (say 800
bytes in our case,) wineserver allocates many pages on the heap and does not
free them afterwards. We are seeing as many as 21 pages lost to the heap every
time we read a small block of data.
My company is creating a Monitor & Control product that works through serial
ports, and we want it to be able to run on Linux netbooks (using USB to serial
port adapters.) This memory leak is the only thing holding us up. The memory
leak is too large for us to recommend to customers that our application can be
used on Linux platforms using WINE.
We are including an attachment for a small program that captures the leak. The
problem is a result of our call to readfile() in the do-while loop. It is using
the overlappedRead feature. Every time this Win32 function call is made, 84K
bytes disappears forever.

Unfortunately I was unable to find a change in Wine that would be the cause for
the timeout: in my tests cmd.exe:batch still times out when run from older Wine
versions.
* Based on the WineTest logs cmd.exe:batch was taking about 50 seconds up to
2022-03-16. But the next day that run time more than doubled to about 118 - 170
seconds, causing it to time out most of the time.
* Reverting the Wine source to the 2022-03-16 head, rebuilding from scratch and
recreating the wineprefix did not help: cmd.exe:batch still times out.
* No package upgrades were performed on that date. Plus this regression
happened simultaneously on multiple machines with different upgrade schedules.
* WINETEST_TIME=1 indicates that almost all of the time is spent running
TEST_BUILTINS.CMD:

* Running the test manually it looked like the "--- for /R" "Plain directory

long time but that run crashed after about 1 minute so this may be unrelated.

medical prax. It uses VFP and VB with MDB backend. The app is in Slovak (SK)
language. Mostly the wine problems are related to the OLE.

The current codebase is not compatible with PHP8. We are stuck on 7.4.
The main issue is how all the objects are setup. PHP8 requires you define a
constructor as __construct, but the AppDB is using the old method of naming the
constructor the same as the object itself. While you could just rename all
those to __construct, there are places in the objects where the code refers to
$this->className(), these would need to be changed to $this->__construct() or
parent::__construct if called from a child class
There are other PHP8 issues to be solved as well. Things like some built in
functions changing how the null type is handled.

WINEDEBUG logs
After updating my Arch linux install from wine 9.8-2 to wine 9.9-2 my 32bit
applications using multilib unixodbc stopped working.
I tried WINEDEBUG=+odbc but could get much relevant output.
Most interesting is probabaly this: trace:odbc:SQLAllocEnv Returning 309,
EnvironmentHandle 00000000
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="odbc32=b" or "odbc=b" didn't change anything as far as I can
tell.
If I downgrade the package it immediately starts connecting again.
The driver I use is the proprietary SQL Anywhere 17 odbc driver.
It works fine using unixodbc with both linux x86_64 and linux 32 bit
applications.
Is there any way I can provide more relevant information?
Attached is a trace of +odbc when it works, and when it doesn't.

Once you get past bug 19539, you have to choose to ignore
two BHG errors; the game then starts and runs (though I got
no sound). Trying to play a campaign crashed for me quickly with

Terminal output when running the Battle.net client installer in a clean Wine
prefix
When attempting to install Battle.net in a clean 64-bit prefix on a clean
install of Linux Mint 21.2 with all needed dependencies, I get the attached
terminal output and the progress hangs at 45%.
Also, I know the maintainers of Bugzilla encourage reporting only one problem
per bug. That being said, the exact same time this started happening, my
existing Wine prefix for Battle.net (and my Battle.net games) caused thread
crashes when opening Battle.net after installing yesterday's update. The update
was installed from within the Battle.net client by clicking the green icon to
install the update. Prior to this update released yesterday on November 30,
2023, Battle.net and the games were running flawlessly.

I do have Crossover on a Chromebook, but whatever I start the emulator (not
opening the application) I get a error that tells me " The program (the full
name of the exe) has encountered a serious problem and needs to close." The
link on the error wasn't very helpful. (I am running nullDC 1.0.4 and I don't
know what is causing it)

I can't start the game from the Official Launcher. The launcher starts with

How the calendar widget looks when run on Windows XP.
When showing transactions there is a date entry field where the user can enter
a date. Or press "enter" to get a date picker widget. The widget seems to be
missing in Wine.
To reproduce:
- Run the software like "wine Hemeko.exe"
- There will be dialogue asking about number format, click Yes.
- On first run you get an intro (or error see Bug 53384). If error, just
dismiss. If intro, press "Återgå till Hemekonomi" to dismiss.
- Click "Arkiv" and "Ny" to create a new database to work with. When asked
"Ange namnet på den nya databasen" enter something like "foo.mdb" and click OK.
- Click "Fortsätt med Hemekonomi" to dismiss setup wizard.
- Press CTRL-K or click on icon Kontoutdrag.
- Click OK.
- Use mouse to set focus on entry field in lower right corner called "Fr o m"
- Press enter.
- See Program Error.
On subsequent runs click Arkiv/Öppna instead to use the existing foo.mdb
database.

This is a followup to bug 47808.
If I understand it right, bug 47808 was primarily about native libraries
getting called at a win32 stack which was not yet committed.
Those native libraries then jumped over the guard page, therefore the stack
got not grown, instead a crash reported.
This aspect was fixed by using the syscall interface and
therefore bug 47808 was closed.
But there is another issue that causes a msys2-forked process crashing,
because after the stack was grown it still misses the PAGE_READWRITE flags.
For this Zeb Figura included in the first attachement to bug 47808
"always expand the stack if within the stack reserve"
a line adding the flags "VPROT_COMMITTED | VPROT_READ | VPROT_WRITE"
to the page that gets the VPROT_GUARD removed in grow_thread_stack.
This modification still enables a forked process to run.
The issue can be reproduced with an unmodified wine by just
- running msys2 bash.exe interactively
- then trying to start e.g. notepad from it.
Attached file shows the stack when the stack gets allocated
- in a working msys2-parent process and
- in a failing msys2-forked child process.
Therefore it looks like the forked stack get really setup differently,
but it is still not clear if or when this memory gets the READ/WRITE
added in native windows.

In Mixcraft, some VST instruments crash when loaded a second time on a track.
However, the same instruments work fine when loaded for the first time on a
track. The following can be reproduced easily in Mixcraft:
1. Start Mixcraft and select "Build Virtual Instrument Tracks" from the "New
Project" window.
2. Click on the keyboard icon next to the first track name, which will bring up
the instrument selection window.
3. Select "<VSTi Instruments>" from the left pane and then "Messiah" from the
right pane. This sets the track to use the Messiah VSTi synth.
4. Now select "Acoustica Instruments" from the right pane.
5. Once again, select "Messiah" from the right pane. Mixcraft will pop up an
error box with the title "An instrument has crashed" containing the following
text: "A crash has been detected in the instrument "Messiah." This plug-in has
been muted. We recommend you save your project and re-start Mixcraft to avoid
losing your work."
Unfortunately, no helpful terminal output seems to be generated in relation to
the plugin crash. I have provided more detailed notes on VST behavior in

These failures happen in about 15% of the runs and in all of them the
environment variable was supposed to contain an accent.
This also explains why the failures:
* Are always about the GitLab environment variables: in our regular test
configurations environment variables don't contain accents.
* Only happen on the GitLab CI Windows test VM: this VM is the only one where
the environment variables change from one run to the next, mostly due to
CI_COMMIT_XXX.
* Always happen in both the 32- and 64-bit tests of a given build.

- Select all components (default)
- When it asks something about the "NI VISA" runtime, select "Yes"
In the install folder (default .wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Anritsu) there
hsould be folders like "Line Sweep Tools" and other. On Wine, those are
missing.
The problem can be worked around by using "winetricks -q dotnet35" before
attempting the install.
Not sure why it can't use wine-mono.
Another way to possibly test: You can unpack the installer exe with 7-zip, then
the $TEMP folder contains the installers, e.g. LST_V1.71_Installer.exe
If you run those, they will complain about missing .NET 3.5 as well.

After changing to another window and then back to the game (with Alt + TAB, for
example), no input will be accepted anymore.
Neither keyboard, mouse, nor gamepad will work until the game is restarted.
After switching to another window, this will be added to the log multiple
times, until returning to the game:

There are multiple menu-options in the game that start a webbrowser, after
which this issue will happen, so it is probably quite likely to happen during
normal play once in a while.
If i press the screenshot-key on my keyboard to access the screenshot-UI of
GNOME, use it with the mouse-pointer, and then go back to the game, input will
still work; this is the only exception i noticed.
It is more like an overlay than a window, so i guess the focus still remains on
the game while using it.

Note: This is about the Japanese "Windows 10 compatible" release, not an
English localised one. There is no demo version, I'm afraid.
The game runs fine--until it hangs at:
012c:err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 103971A4 "?" wait timed out
in thread 012c, blocked by 0024, retrying (60 sec)
The hang may happen, after as little as 1 min, sometimes it's 10 min, and I
might have made it 20 min once. When it happens, it does not recover, the
message just repeats every once in a while.
I'm using the Ubuntu packages from the official winehq repo. Originally I tried
with wine-staging 6.0, then I went backwards version by version through
(wine-staging) 5.18, and finally now I'm on (wine-devel) 6.0 for this bug
report. No discernable difference either way. The run in the attached log
happened in a clean prefix (though I admit I may have forgotten to wipe the
prefix between some downgrades).

There is a workaround by installing `gdiplus` via winetricks, however, it was
not nessasary to install this prior to 9.3.
The bug is reproducable on the latest git commit as well as of the time of this
report.

This problem can be noticed if one tries to use LTSpice [1], places a Capacitor
in the schematic, right clicks on it and then on "Select Capacitor".
The window that opens has a blank space where the header is supposed to be,
resizing the windows makes the header appear and clicking on the headers
themselves makes them appear for a brief instant.

terminal output of the error
Microsoft Orca is unable to modify cells within an .msi file. Modifying a cell
returns the following error message:
Could not change this cell to '<Value>'. The data was rejected by the database.
It may be out of the valid range or formatted incorrectly.
In the terminal you can see the error message:

The value 0x7a5098 and 0x7a5e40 changes depending on the cell you edit.
If you click on 'Transform - Generate Transform' and want to save your .MST
file, it returns the error:
Orca was unable to generate the transform. (MSI Error 120)
On the terminal:

Terminal output when trying to run Family Tree Maker 2019
FTM 2019 successfully installs (it prompts to install Visual C++
Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017 as part of the process) but then fails
to start. It produces an unhandled exception (see attached log) and then hangs
in the terminal.

Runtime log with Wine's DirectMusic
Starting with Wine 8.18 and its much needed improvements to its DirectMusic
support, Recettear (a well known problem game for its complete lack of audio
under Wine out of the box) finally started having working sound, but it's far
from being 100% working.
Currently (as of 9.0-rc1), these are the problems with Recettear and Wine's
DirectMusic implementation:
- Sound effects may skip playing once in a while.
- Background music is not working as intended: tracks will not loop (they will
play only once, then silence), tracks will not stop playing during scene
switches (leading to many tracks from different scenes playing at the same
time)
- In-game volume controls do not work at all: music/SFX will always play at the
highest volume level, and it's impossible to silence it if desired.
When using native DirectMusic DLLs (installed via Winetricks), the game has
completely working audio just like in Windows, but with two gotchas:
- Sound effects have lag.
- Using native DirectMusic also requires native DirectSound, which breaks sound
in the opening movie (recet_op.wmv)
Attached is the log from running the game for a couple minutes on a completely
clean prefix: start at the title screen, load a saved game, switch scenes a
couple times (to trigger the "multiple tracks playing at the same time" bug),
trying (unsuccessfully) to adjust music volume, eventually ending with no music
tracks playing at all because they will not loop, then cleanly exiting the
game.

Clip Studio Paint 3.0 fails to open, with a pop-up message that reads "The

the dynamic link library USER32.dll"
The launcher does run however, even if it's all white, it's been documented in
the appdb entry for the program. The main software, CLIPStudioPaint.exe, does
not.

Saved backtrace from crash
After installing Pegasus Mail in Wine, Pegasus Mail crashes upon launch.
I would be willing to test this in Wine STAGING, but I don't know how to
install STAGING alongside STABLE in Ubuntu.

Internet Explorer seems to start normally, although slowly. The Winehq web
page loads and appears to render correctly. If I try to access www.amazon.com
(http, or https) the program experiences an error and quits. The following

I am using Wine to run Poisson Superfish. This program essentially does some
calculations and then writes the results into a binary file. This action is
performed in less than a second in a Windows environment. Unfortunately, it
takes about 10 seconds to write this binary file under Wine. Here is how to
reproduce the error:
1. Install Poisson Superfish on linux using Wine. You have to scroll all the
way down and click register.

2. Once installed, open a unix terminal in this directory
.../.wine/drive_c/LANL/Examples/RadioFrequency/Waveguides/
3. Run wineconsole cmd.
4. In the new window, run RUNWG.BAT.
3. Several windows will pop up. The ones that stall for a bit are in the
process of writing to a file named something.T35. The T35 refers to tape 35 (I
guess that's how a sector of harddrive memory would be referred as back in the
80s). This is the binary file with the solution in it.
It will finish eventually, but it is pretty slow.
