Bug ID: 58506
Summary: Some VST plugins using OpenGL don't render in WOW64
mode (black screen)
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: opengl
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: a.oleinic103(a)gmail.com
Distribution: ---
When using yabridge to run Windows VST plugins in a native Linux DAW (in my
case, REAPER), Waves plugins do not render correctly, showing a black window.
The window is interactable (grabs the cursor, can change settings, etc), but
dragging it, closing and re-opening, etc. does not work. In the logs, the
plugins show a bunch of OpenGL errors. This is specifically a WOW64 regression,
since using a build of Wine 10 without WOW64 works fine.
This is what it looks like:
09:07:42 [WaveShell1-VST3 14.12_x64-09EFPegt] [Wine STDERR]
0024:err:opengl:null_glEnable unsupported
09:07:42 [WaveShell1-VST3 14.12_x64-09EFPegt] [Wine STDERR]
0024:err:opengl:null_glBlendFunc unsupported
(Sorry for pasting it here, I have read the rules, but it's not letting me
paste text as an attachment for some reason :/)

Summary: cmd pipe | not triggering ReadFile EOF
Product: Wine
Version: 4.18
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: cmd
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

Test program is find.exe as of wine commit
ccec532879ec14b2e79da08288152a69221ec4d1.
I implemented the program so it waits for ReadFile to return FALSE, that's when
the input is supposed to be over:
######
BOOL success = ReadFile(handle, buffer, 4096, &buffer_max, NULL);
if (!success)
return FALSE;
######
Now that's not right anyways, but it exposes a slight difference in Wine cmd:
1) Following input hangs on Wine, but not on Windows: "echo test | find test"
It works on Wine when using "winetricks -q cmd"
2) Following input hangs on both Windows and Wine: "find test < test.txt"
Wine's implementation of the pipe | uses the redirect operator < internally.
This leads to the pipe working differently on Wine, i.e. blocking ReadFile when
it's not supposed to.
I'm not aware of a real program being affected by that, just noting.

chinese characters are displayed as squares
The default Chinese font of wine (SimSun) clearly states that this font is only
authorized for use in windows systems. Using this font in linux is a clear
infringement. I tried using other fonts and modified the value of MS Shell Dlg
in the registry, but the Chinese font still couldn't be displayed normally.

After 2a2cc34db71 [1], Steam appears to launch, showing its notification area
icon, but no window will appear.
After a while from clicking said icon, the "Steamwebhelper is not responding"
window [2] will appear, with a few different options to restart things with, of
which none do any better.
I believe the
src\vgui2\vgui_surfacelib\Win32Font.cpp (963) : Couldn't get string length
line shows up only when this problem can be seen, which could be a sort of a
hint at least.
Building before the mentioned commit, or reverting it, and efce37afd70 due to
conflicts, on current 'git master' will make it work again.
Hacking on it a bit, removing the 'wcsupr(refkey->name);' line also makes it
work, though maybe that is obvious in this case, and might more or less nullify
the point of the uppercasing intended.
(Did not try a fresh prefix and clean install of Steam yet due to the
cumbersome log-in process, but hopefully that is not necessary here.)
Last tested at 'wine-10.17'.
Thank you!

Since Wine 10.16 now supports 16-bit Windows games through WoW64, I tried
playing the famous SkiFree game released for Windows 3.1. Unfortunately the
game crashes at startup.
