Wine debug of no Mahjong game window display
After updating to Wine 10.17, my Windows game programs (such as Mahjong, Purble
Place, and so forth) end without displaying the game in a window. This
behavior seems very similar to the issue I submitted with bug 58321 a few
months ago which had an issue identified and resolved in win32u. As such, I am
attaching a debug log using the WINEDEBUG options suggested at that time.
Please let me know if other information is needed. For now, I will reset my
Linux virtual machine back to its state prior to installing Wine 10.17.

Example
Starting from Wine version 9.0, the waiting cursor no longer appears when
attempting to set it to indicate a long-running operation in MFC applications
or other programs. The issue appears to have started after the commit on June
13, 2023.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run the attached simple MFC application.
2. Click the button "Start Long Operation"
Expected Result:
The waiting cursor should appear for the duration of the 3-second sleep.
Actual Result:
The waiting cursor does not appear during the Sleep call. The cursor remains
the default arrow.
Example Application:
The example application has been attached. It uses the most basic
implementation of the CWaitCursor class, as described in the official Microsoft
documentation:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/mfc/reference/cwaitcursor-class?view=…
Regression Commit:
The issue seems to have started with the commits made on June 13, 2023:
https://github.com/wine-mirror/wine/commits/master/dlls?author=rbernon&sinc…
Notes:
This issue does not occur in Windows, where the waiting cursor appears as
expected.
Environment:
Wine version: 9.0+ (possibly Wine 8.x, but not 8.0)
Operating System: RHEL 7.9, RHEL 8.10

Summary: Delayed startup of wine processes in Wine-10.16

Distribution: ArchLinux
There is a noticeable delay (8-10s) when starting any applications in
Wine-10.16, e.g. wine regedit. No disk activity or high cpu usage from
wineserver can be seen with htop, there is just a delay before the actual
program appears on the screen.
Reproduced with 32bit-only, shared WOW and the new WOW64 prefixes alike.
Started happening after
commit 7bb835b3482de5e66515b5a0bd8dce8dc9844c93
ntdll: Use in-process synchronization objects.
The issue doesn't exist with the previous commit or when the ntsync kernel
module is not loaded.
I'm using Arch Linux and tested with both the current official kernel on Arch
(6.16.10-zen1-1-zen) and with kernel-6.17-cachyos-bore.

Those games using the Kex Engine that support the Opengl renderer API fail to
start when the new experimental EGL opengl backend is used.
Such games are:
Blood - Fresh Supply
Doom 64
System Shock: Enhanced Edition
The error message that is shown on start:
kexPlatformApp::InitVideo: Failed to create window (No matching GL pixel format
available).
Other available renderers in those games (Vulkan and D3d11) work properly with
the new EGL backend.

Wine debug d3d + normal log
Clip Studio Paint on Wine (version X.Y) exhibits a rendering issue where
certain UI components — specifically the Settings window and the Login window —
appear completely black when opened. Despite the lack of visible content, the
menus remain clickable and functional if the user knows where to click. This
behavior makes it extremely difficult to use those parts of the application
effectively.

Installing the official Battle.net 32-bit installer
(https://us.battle.net/download/getInstaller?os=win&installer=Battle.net-Set…)
does hang while downloading (a bit inconsistent depending on the machine, but
reproduces about 1/5 of the time).
In my testing, this only happens with ntsync, and interesting logging channels
(like +winsock,+sync,+server) make the bug basically non-reproducible.
As does a small NtDelayExecution of 1 microsecond in ws2_32 select().
There is another CEF crash right after the install succeeded; however, this is
independent of this bug.

JWM, fluxbox and openbox do not start "specops: the line" - they are stuck on
splash screen.
my fork of fluxbox (shynebox) does pass the splash screen, but, alt-tabbing
breaks the window, at first it will be a 'smooshed' version of the fullscreen
window, then alt-tabbing back and forward again will make a 1/4 of the screen
window that isnt usable.

If I remember correctly this wasn't happening with Wine 10.13, basically now
when resizing the Wine Regedit Window when using the Wayland driver makes it
flicker a lot.
I don't know if other apps are affected by this issue, I've tried resizing
notepad and it doesn't flicker.
