Some more thoughts on khtml

Just two things for those thinking about khtml: 1) The kdebindings package contains C-language bindings for khtml (kde_HTML*), so C++ wouldn't be a requirement for calling khtml (this does not affect the qt-replacement api of course). 2) There is a project to port KWC to win32: KHTML Win32 Native, see http://sourceforge.net/projects/khtml-win32/ Maybe it is possible to use that. ciao Jörg -- Joerg Mayer <jmayer(a)loplof.de> I found out that "pro" means "instead of" (as in proconsul). dlls/ddraw/dsurface/user.c and OWN_WINDOW & Worms World Party

Hi. I tried to get Worms World Party working with wine (tried latest wine from CVS, winex 2.2.1 ...) and none of these worked. I don't get graphics output of any kind on these. In version 2002-06-05 graphics output is ok, but mouse events seem to be going to /dev/null. I tried different versions and I found out that 2002-06-28 had a fix labeled: "Disable OWN_WINDOW as it no longer works." I tried defining OWN_WINDOW in latest build and the graphics came out ok. But no mouse events. If I undefine OWN_WINDOW, I get the mouse (can hear the menu selection sounds), but no graphics. When I get no graphics, it seems that GDI heap overflows aswell. I'm not a windows expert, so it would take quite long time to find out what is actually the reason for this. placeholder implementation of explorer.exe

I collected my notes about getting msvc4's setup running under Wine at http://www.kegel.com/linux/winelog.html I now have wordpad reading .wri files properly under Wine (needed for the "STL" button). The next problem is that the setup program does ShellExecute(..., "explorer.exe", ".", ...) to pop up an explorer window. Well, wine has Winefile, but not explorer.exe. It looks like the path of least resistance is for me to write a trivial little explorer.exe that just cd's to argv[1] and fires up winefile (which always operates on the current directory). I've written it, and I expect when I add the needed registry entry, it'll make msvc4's setup's "explore this cd" button work fine. Since 33 fps is just half the standard speed (70Hz), all should be fine. But is VGA_Poll_Text running at 33 fps? I suspect this function is too slow (maybe due to the console code). Christian. > > >

Unfortunately, if I do STRING_FOO, "This is a two-line \ string" it looks good in Wine, but it's run together on one line in Windows. Conversely, if I do STRING_FOO, "This is a two-line \n \ string" it looks good in Windows, but it's double-spaced in Wine. Something's fishy here. Launch a unix process from wcmd?

I am trying write scripts to mangle the output of MIDL. After MIDL runs, I need to do a tiny amount of post-processing using UNIX apps (convert from CRLF, for starters). So, I have batch file that I run under wine to invoke MIDL and get the output I want; My question is: is there some way I can invoke my unix shell script from my .bat file in wine under wcmd? If not, perhaps we should squeeze this functionality into Dan's start.exe implementation? How would you feel about this, Dan? Alternatively, if I could invoke my .bat file from the UNIX command-line, this would be just as good... but so far, the only way I have found is to run "wcmd" and type. Does wcmd have some equivalent to bash's "-c" command-line argument? Surely real cmd.exe has some such feature? To prevent that, you need to subscribe the email address you are using to the wine-patches list, otherwise it waits for me to get around to moderating it. Since your previous email appears to have been sent at about midnight my time, there was a bit of a wait before I saw it ;) If you already are subscribed under a different email address, it is perfectly ok to subscribe another. Just go into your user preferences after completing the subscription process and turn On "Disable mail delivery" to prevent getting multiple copies of postings sent to you.
