Eleven days to go

Alright, Just 11 days to go until Wineconf. I'm looking forward to seeing you all! I'd like to encourage people to put agenda suggestions onto the Wiki. Also, if you're going to be in earlier than Friday afternoon/evening, you might want to scribble a note on the Wiki (or here on the mailing list), so you can connect with others that are in early. We'll plan on being around on Friday to meet + greet. In theory, airport to hotel is trivial and easy; just take the free shuttle to the Cambria Suites. But just in case, everyone should feel free to call my cell phone, 651-503-7877, if there is any trouble or if we can help in any way. Finally, if you're coming, and haven't recently RSVPd to me in person, please send me a private email? I'd like to get a rough guess on the head count for Saturday's dinner so we can warn the restaurant. Cheers, Jeremy

Announcing dates and location for Wineconf 2008

Hi Folks, Thanks to the volunteer efforts of James Ramey (new guy in our office), we now have a great venue for WineConf 2008. I've put together a page on it here: http://wiki.winehq.org/WineConf2008 The key details are that it will be over the weekend of September 27 and 28, at a hotel in Bloomington, MN. I promise that it won't be mind numbingly cold, and I won't make any one traipse to see an ice palace this year <grin>. In fact, it's a nice hotel, quite close to the airport, the Mall of America, a Wildlife refuge, and to a stop for our light rail system. Additionally, I believe we will be able to offer fairly substantial travel sponsorships for people that find the cost of travel prohibitive. Email me privately if that would be a help. And for those Europeans that hate US policies, I'll point out two things: 1. January 20, 2009 is fast approaching. 2. 1 Euro gets you $1.60, which is a whole lot of cheap beer At any rate, if you're interested in coming to Wineconf this year, please visit the Wiki and sign up for the wineconf mailing list: http://www.winehq.org/mailman/listinfo/wineconf We generally use that list for minutiae to avoid spamming the broader mailing list. Hi Mike (Hearn), will be wired Inet connection available for my notebook during presentation? Asking because otherwise I would have to make local copy of CxTest website, which is non-trivial because of size of image directories (5 GB). Thanks, Martin

Last details for WineConf 2007

Hello everyone, This weekend it is WineConf, in Zurich Switzerland. Here are some handy details. Firstly if you get stuck, phone me. My number is +41 78 601 8607 For those of you staying at the Hotel Rex, it is only one tram ride to get to the Google office on Freigutstrasse. Here is a map showing useful things: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&om=1&msa=0&msid=11807935322224… Notice the tram stop just up the road. You need on it, heading to Tunnelstrasse. There are signs on each side detailing the stops it will make in that direction, it should be fairly self explanatory. Make sure you go in the right direction! You want the tram heading south from the hotel. I'll try and get a photo tour done tomorrow during my lunch break. There'll be lunch Saturday/Sunday (just easy finger foods really), and CodeWeavers is generously buying us on Saturday evening at the Bierhalle Wolf (I told them to expect between 35 and 50 people for fondue, which might be a bit optimistic, we'll see). What time are we going to start? 9:30ish? thanks -mike

Hotel info

Hi Folks, Say, I thought I'd let you know that we've now booked about 20 people from CodeWeavers into the Rex Hotel: http://www.zuerich-hotels.ch/html/index.php?id=21&no_cache=1&L=1 The say they have more rooms at the rate they quoted me (120 CHF), so others might want to investigate. I have no reason to think that the Rex is particularly bad or nice; There were plenty of other places in town, some that looked nicer; the Rex has the main quality of having replied to my email <grin>. There are some hostels in town that are much less, and a few less expensive hotels around, as well as a number of other, probably nicer hotels. The one thing I found was that there was nothing but quite expensive (and full) hotels near the Google offices, so a 15 minute tram ride appears to be a must no matter where you stay. At any rate, I'm looking forward to seeing you all; I'll see if we can't find a bar near the Rex we can propose as a meeting place for Friday night... Cheers, Jeremy
