Inet connection during presentation

Hi Mike (Hearn), will be wired Inet connection available for my notebook during presentation? Asking because otherwise I would have to make local copy of CxTest website, which is non-trivial because of size of image directories (5 GB). Thanks, Martin

Last details for WineConf 2007

Hello everyone, This weekend it is WineConf, in Zurich Switzerland. Here are some handy details. Firstly if you get stuck, phone me. My number is +41 78 601 8607 For those of you staying at the Hotel Rex, it is only one tram ride to get to the Google office on Freigutstrasse. Here is a map showing useful things: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&om=1&msa=0&msid=11807935322224… Notice the tram stop just up the road. You need on it, heading to Tunnelstrasse. There are signs on each side detailing the stops it will make in that direction, it should be fairly self explanatory. Make sure you go in the right direction! You want the tram heading south from the hotel. I'll try and get a photo tour done tomorrow during my lunch break. There'll be lunch Saturday/Sunday (just easy finger foods really), and CodeWeavers is generously buying us on Saturday evening at the Bierhalle Wolf (I told them to expect between 35 and 50 people for fondue, which might be a bit optimistic, we'll see). What time are we going to start? 9:30ish? thanks -mike

Hello guys, is somebody booked in an other hotel than the Rex Hotel? They don't have any rooms anymore not even for the Codeweavers conference. Hotel info

Hi Folks, Say, I thought I'd let you know that we've now booked about 20 people from CodeWeavers into the Rex Hotel: http://www.zuerich-hotels.ch/html/index.php?id=21&no_cache=1&L=1 The say they have more rooms at the rate they quoted me (120 CHF), so others might want to investigate. I have no reason to think that the Rex is particularly bad or nice; There were plenty of other places in town, some that looked nicer; the Rex has the main quality of having replied to my email <grin>. There are some hostels in town that are much less, and a few less expensive hotels around, as well as a number of other, probably nicer hotels. The one thing I found was that there was nothing but quite expensive (and full) hotels near the Google offices, so a 15 minute tram ride appears to be a must no matter where you stay. At any rate, I'm looking forward to seeing you all; I'll see if we can't find a bar near the Rex we can propose as a meeting place for Friday night... Cheers, Jeremy

Transportation system in Zurich

Hello, we tried to find out how to get from hotel Rex to conference and found this: http://www.gis.zh.ch/zvv/ After you enter addresses, you get attached screenshot. Now, I have no idea what does it actually mean. These questions come to my mind: * Is is a bus, train, or something else? * What is the number of it? I.e. bus number X * What time does it go? It seems I have no clue about Zurich transportation system. Anybody can help? Thanks, Martin

Hotel planning

I would like to find a hotel that has the following qualities: 1) Is moderately priced, so everyone is willing to stay there. 2) Has Internet access 3) Is fairly close to Google's office 4) Has a bar that we can encourage everyone to gather at on Friday. As far as I can tell, we're not going to get all of those things. Specifically, price collides badly with being close to the meeting site, at least as far as I can tell. As a guideline, I was trying to get the price down below an average of 150 CHF per night or so (1 CHF ~= .6 Euros, ~= .8 USD). I was hoping that some native, or even just a native German speaker would be willing to help out. I'm willing to make phone calls and to try to negotiate block rates, if someone would make a list of likely hotels to try. The things I can't figure out from my desk here in the US are as follows: 1. Is it a certainty that there are no cheap hotels in walking distance to the Google office? I *think* so, but can't be sure. 2. I can find nice-ish hotels at a reasonable rate from here; but I can't tell how far they are from the Google campus in transit time. The nice address to address feature of the ZVV here: http://www.vbz.ch/vbz_opencms/opencms/vbz/english/ZVVtimetable/ quickly overcomes my inept German abilities when I try to do address to address searches. 3. How to pick between hotels? I can find tons of moderately priced, reasonably rated hotels, with internet even, using the web tools I have. But I don't know Zurich, and have no clue if the Neufeld is a dump, or if Goldenes Schwert has rats :-/. Has anyone else looked into this and come to any conclusions? Any native Zurichian or German speaker willing to work with me on this project? Cheers, Jeremy

Announcing WineConf 2007

Yes, it's true! The moment you've all been waiting for! On 6th/7th October, once more Wine hackers from around the world will meet to eat, drink, make merry, and discuss the finer details of reimplementing the Windows API. This year it's Googles turn to host it, and it'll be at the engineering office in Zurich. You too can chill out with these awesome froods by signing up for the wineconf mailing list, and surfing over to: http://wiki.winehq.org/WineConf2007 ... which is currently a bit sparse but will populate nearer the time.
