Revert the capabilities, the program loads. # setcap '-r' /usr/bin/wine-preloader $ wine Hearthstone.exe -launch -uid hs_beta This issue persists over system reboots. It's not just setting CAP_NET_BIND_SERVICE causes the problem. From what I observed, this error occurs as long as any capablity is enabled. Note on getting debug trace --------------------------- Right now due to bug #33947, battle.net.exe requires dbghelp to be disabled, and Hearthstone.exe depends on it in order to play. However, directly running Hearthstone.exe is good enough to reproduce this bug. Wave the mouse pointer over where the menu should appear for it to appear (bug 33943) On Windows, the menus are displayed with a border and a triangular protrusion that points to the associated button. On Wine, this border never appears. TRACE+win output is attached. Open it with Vim; for some reason `less` thinks it's a binary file. I don't know if this is the same as bug 33943. If the same fix solves both problems, then we can mark both bugs as fixed. Even can't walk or move or escape in Overwatch game client. Positives - Blizzard has included all CJK fonts not just for the blizzard battle net client but also for games, like Overwatch has its own CJK fonts. and there is no need to install additional fonts as Overwatch and battle net are able to render all CJK fonts on Linux except some on friend list inside the app. With Overwatch its able to render all CJK fonts as it has its own fonts and works great on Linux for chinese japanese or korean and even other languages as it doesn't need any system font. Blizzard battle net app can get input from Ibus or Fcitx (I tested it with ibus anthy) and also render it using its own CJK fonts which is great as we can see in the first attachment also word suggestions and Kanji conversion in case of japanese is working nicely as you can see on the markings. Negatives / Bugs - Unlike the app login screen or the app's social chat, we can't input any CJK inside the game itself despite its able to render all CJK fonts. As when switching to a CJK keyboard the game client stops taking input at all not even walking running using abilities in game works. Which definitely should not be the case. When pressing the launch button, the games simply do nothing and sit there stating they're running or state they're running for a few seconds and the message is gone. I've tried running Warcraft 3: Reforged from the terminal and all I receive is a failed to initialize ClientSdk.dll. Haven't tried this for other games. It re-launched with a completely black window. By right clicking on the tray icon, you can select the settings, and disable "Use browser hardware acceleration". After re-launching, the new (imo ugly---a completely irrelevant, off-topic comment for this bug report) Battle.net UI is visible. It's almost completely functional---but not all re-draws of the window seem to be captured, resulting in a much of the window being completely black. Moving the window or highlighting buttons prompts a re-draw. As a note: originally I didn't think to access the settings menu from the tray. I was still able to start, e.g. Starcraft 2, by running SC2Switcher_x64.exe directly. It plays perfectly fine. This profile is set by xcalib and shouldn't be mindlessly messed with. I could not determinate a pattern as to which programs do this. It seems games are especially prone. A simple test case: Get xcalib, and use it to set some random color profile, such as with xcalib -a -gc 5 Get CPU-Z. There is a simple no-installation zip available. Hasn't worked. When occured: The Blizzard App ran an update about a week or so ago, it bugged out around this time. It threw all users of the application "out" of being signed in. A new game has been introduced to the application, which is not directly linked to Blizzard Entertainment, so I assume the integration of the new Destiny PC players accounts, put an issue in the coding for Wine under EU? Currently, using the Blizzard App on US works fine. Though after a week of trying, waiting to see if it just fixed itself, I still cannot use it to sign into the EU interface. I can still sign onto my EU WoW account through the US interface. So there is no rush, its just a minor hindrance. Does not affect gameplay of any of Blizzard's games. Download Battle.net client setup. https://eu.battle.net/download/getInstaller?os=win&installer=Battle.net-Set… https://www.battle.net/download/getInstallerForGame?os=win&gameProgram=BATT… Currently: 4.838.352 bytes 2. Run Battle.net-Setup.exe in a new Wine prefix and click trough the update process. 3. wine-7.17: You get the error "BLZBNTAGT000008FC". wine-staging-7.17: The installation process is stuck at "Installing Battle.net... (0%)". WORKAROUNDS Updating games: Replace Agent.exe in "Agent.8009\" folder with old "Agent.7984\Agent.exe". Installing Battle.net with wine-staging-7.17: Just replace the file while the installing process is being stuck. Afterwards the installation should automatically continue. Installing Battle.net with wine-7.17: DIFFICULT -> try to use wine-staging-7.17 instead! Run Battle.net-Setup.exe once until you get the "BLZBNTAGT000008FC" error. Then close the setup and place Agent.exe version 7984 in that folder an protect it from being overwritten. sudo chattr +i /path/to/Agent.8009/ (may only work on ext4 filesystems) Important: Use "chattr" on the folder "Agent.8009", not on the "Agent.exe" file. Normally, there shouldn't be any window shown for Agent.exe at all. With staging commit b49e8743866224df57eb1032b6c63c999b28c808 and older, the issue cannot be reproduced. Mainline wine (5.20) doesn't have this issue, and 8d04884c1f6aa6b21435130e42978fdeac06df55 (Updated winex11.drv-Query_server_position patchset …), which was supposed to fix this, had no effect. The first time wine runs, it creates the ~/.wine directory and registries. Wine never completes, and hangs. To reproduce rm -rf ~/.wine brew install wine Run any wine application and it will hang on config generation. Dialogue box comes up, drop-down boxes are working, but radio buttons for switching between "default printer" and an alternate printer are not selectable. Have compared the print dialogue between Wine vs a native install under Windows XP (SP3) and notice some text from the Windows install does not show up under Wine. Also tried the same thing with the "free" version of FTM2005se available at http://past.familytreemaker.com/download/starter.aspx and found it's behavior is the same. So I will describe steps from there, since it would be eaier for someone to get that to test against. STEPS TO RECREATE: 1: Set up wine profile with "WINEPREFIX=/home/jelabarre/wine-apps/ftw2005 winecfg"; set winver to "Windows XP", point the Documents directory under Desktop Integration to my own Documents directory 2: install FTW2005 by running "WINEPREFIX=/home/jelabaWINEPREFIX=/home/jelabarre/wine-apps/ftw2005 wine ./FamilyTreeMaker2005se.exe", accept all defaults. 3: open FTW 2005 from "Wine" menu entry on Gnome menu. Selected "Buy Later" from popup window (does not affect outcome, as same print problem occurrs in a regular retail version of FTM7) 4: create new file, or use existing file (same result either way) 5: select "File | Print Setup", then try to select radio button for either "Default Printer" or "Specific Printer". Neither can be selected 6: try selecting a "specific printer" from drop-down box. Printer can be selected, but radio buttons still not functional. 7: after selecting a printer other than the default (such as print-to-PDF) and then try printing. Output will still go to the Linux default printer, no edits of the print settings will take effect. The "Family Archive Viewer v6.0" at http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/abtffiv.html and "Family Archive Viewer v11.0" at http://www.genealogy.com/abtffiv.html are other variants that exhibits this behavior. Only if "Sonntag" (sunday) is selected, the app freezes, 100% CPU. This action prepares an event to be scheduled every first sunday each month, so obviously some problem with day of week calculation. It looks to me like this should be possible just like it is possible with WriteEndElement. I have also noticed that native xmllite sometimes breaks(not sure whether this is a feature or a bug) but at times native xmllite doesn't write new lines after writing the elements. I'm not sure how exactly this happens but the possible work-around in this is to manually write new lines(with WriteWhitespace) which means this issue could easily break working code. I'm not sure how to fix this right away so I am submitting a bug.
