Note, the actual files that the game is trying to load are 'ring_01.bmp' and 'RP01.bmp' and they do exist in the given directory, but the first character of the filename is truncated by Wine for some reason. Starting from wine 6.12, Battle.net application takes a lot of time to start (more than 5 minutes). When started, it does not render content. Sometimes, after several attepmts to reload, the content is rendered. The issue persists in 6.13 and 6.14 too. I tried to install in fresh prefix, but with 6.14, after more than 10 minutes in state "Updating Battle.net update Agent", I gave up. With 6.11, installation completed in about 1 minute. [Reproducer] 1. Start redshift and ensure it entered sunset color. Better use -l LAT:LON to fake that you are in somewhere sun is already set. Default redshift will use randr backend to reset the color temp, so no extra setting is needed to reproduce. And default redshift will use 5500K for daytime and 3500K for nighttime, so the color temp change will be quite obvious. 2. Start wine GUI program I'm using Startcraft2 an galgame called "月に寄り添う乙女の作法2", both of them cause the display color temperature reset for several seconds. Revert the capabilities, the program loads. # setcap '-r' /usr/bin/wine-preloader $ wine Hearthstone.exe -launch -uid hs_beta This issue persists over system reboots. It's not just setting CAP_NET_BIND_SERVICE causes the problem. From what I observed, this error occurs as long as any capablity is enabled. Note on getting debug trace --------------------------- Right now due to bug #33947, battle.net.exe requires dbghelp to be disabled, and Hearthstone.exe depends on it in order to play. However, directly running Hearthstone.exe is good enough to reproduce this bug. Wave the mouse pointer over where the menu should appear for it to appear (bug 33943) On Windows, the menus are displayed with a border and a triangular protrusion that points to the associated button. On Wine, this border never appears. TRACE+win output is attached. Open it with Vim; for some reason `less` thinks it's a binary file. I don't know if this is the same as bug 33943. If the same fix solves both problems, then we can mark both bugs as fixed. After Hearthstone opened a Window and asked for an Language(I selected English(US)) it trows an Error: Something went wrong while trying to create a directory ("C:/ProgramData/Battle.net/Agent"). Please ensure you have permission to create the directory and try again. Even can't walk or move or escape in Overwatch game client. Positives - Blizzard has included all CJK fonts not just for the blizzard battle net client but also for games, like Overwatch has its own CJK fonts. and there is no need to install additional fonts as Overwatch and battle net are able to render all CJK fonts on Linux except some on friend list inside the app. With Overwatch its able to render all CJK fonts as it has its own fonts and works great on Linux for chinese japanese or korean and even other languages as it doesn't need any system font. Blizzard battle net app can get input from Ibus or Fcitx (I tested it with ibus anthy) and also render it using its own CJK fonts which is great as we can see in the first attachment also word suggestions and Kanji conversion in case of japanese is working nicely as you can see on the markings. Negatives / Bugs - Unlike the app login screen or the app's social chat, we can't input any CJK inside the game itself despite its able to render all CJK fonts. As when switching to a CJK keyboard the game client stops taking input at all not even walking running using abilities in game works. Which definitely should not be the case.
