Note that it asks you for your user password 5. It will execute just fine once you enter your user password, then you can interrupt it 6. Install wine-bug-demo.Setup.1.0.0.exe 7. My app uses UDP listening on specific address (not 0.0.0.0). It is running on machine with NAT, there are two interfaces with IP A.A.A.A (public) and IP B.B.B.B (private) My app is set to listen only on one IP address, IP A.A.A.A It works properly on Wine 1.5.6. Traffic from subnet B.B.B.B is NATed to A.A.A.A interface and application running in wine receives it correctly. After update to 1.5.24 it does not work anymore. Application does not receive data from private subnet B.B.B.B, however it works properly for traffic incoming on A.A.A.A interface. Please see attached schema. results of "netstat --listening" with Wine 1.5.6 it is listening on A.A.A.A address correctly. with Wine 1.5.24 it is listening on 0.0.0.0 (obviously incorrect, socket binding is set to A.A.A.A address in application and although it is saying 0.0.0.0 app does not receive any data from B.B.B.B network) This application has to be listening only on one interface and do not mix public and private addresses. In this case it is not accessible for clients in private network, so it is critical bug. The problem is a socket binding error "address already in use". CODE: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: Unknown error (0x2740) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoBind(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Bind(EndPoint localEP) netstat and lsof commands don't show the socket that appears to be in use, so I assume it's not really in use. Furthermore the problem only happens, and it always happen, in the following circumstance. 1. The program A.exe listens successfully on the server socket <anyip>:<port>. 2. Then it start the program B.exe and close itself (closing the socket too). 3. Program B.exe do something and then starts again A.exe. 4. A.exe try to bind the server socket but in that case it fails with the error "address already in use". 5. Restart A.exe, now the binding success. To start the new process I'm using System.Diagnostic.Process. I've found that if I don't relaunch A.exe from B, but do it manually, everything works fine. When Wine is built --with-mingw this can be worked around with arial (Bug 32342), but when built --without-mingw the workaround appears not to work. I tried with and without GPU-accelerated web views and it makes no difference. I tried adding the whole of corefonts but it makes no difference. Attached log shows the process trying to start before HUPing steam.exe. Built in a Debian Stable chroot. I tried Wine 9.0 but the result is the same. Wine 8.0.1 has other issues so I stopped there. It doesn't look like a regression, probably an updated client. Do you want to start PowerPoint in safe mode?" If I click yes, the splash screen appears briefly, then Powerpoint shuts down. With WINE 9.0, the same videos are played correctly. An extra symptom is that with WINE 10.0-rc2 and 10.0-rc4 the game tends to freeze when trying to quit it, so its process needs to be killed. That is something I have often seen with games that have videos that could not be played, but usually this is related to missing GStreamer plugins. After clicking OK in the popup the mouse cursor turns into the in-game hour glass and stays that way until you close the program. I found the english version of the game on an abandonware-site which might produce the same error (haven't tried). The CD is an original copy and it confirmed working in a Windows XP Pro virtualbox. Briefly, I can report the most suspected output line: Fatal EXCEPTION_WINE_CXX_EXCEPTION exception (code=e06d7363) raised which is repeated many times, and meanwhile the application main window appears and suddenly disappears. Sorry but I am not an expert so: -I am not able (yet) to say which was the working wine version (trying dnf history, advice are welcome) -I have seen that Bug 50760 seems related but I don't know if it's the same bug. -There is also an error message box from the application itself; I suspect it's just a consequence of the bug, anyway it's someting like "error 148:3 licensing has stopped working". FYI: There's no explorer component in bugzilla. So I've put this under unknown. Is there a better component for this? (There *is* an explorerframe component, but that seems too specific for including virtual desktops, as the description seems to be limited to just the windows7+ taskbar.) In a wine prefix with virtual desktops enabled, using the /desktop=shell argument to start explorer, when no other wine processes are running, causes wine to produce two virtual desktop windows. The first virtual desktop is the configured via virtual desktop setting in winecfg, which remains empty. The second virtual desktop is the requested shell desktop that contains the taskbar and start menu. Shouldn't the /desktop=shell argument check to see if a desktop already exists and if not just create one desktop? If this is a case of reused functionality, maybe the code that added the "enable taskbar / start menu" checkbox to winecfg could be upstreamed as a fix?
