See bug 3010 (this has ben fixed in newer Wine versions). I don't know how to change 20040716 so that it compiles with a never alsa/conf.h. Nevertheless, the problem here is that this bug is not resolved yet, not that 20040716 doesn't compile. I'm still getting this error on any InstallShield installable program I've tried, Civilization3 for example, in Wine 20050725. At first glance it seems to be a well known bug:Application window stays on top of every other window. Strange thing is that initially it does accept keyboard input, but as soon as you click somewhere outside the application window there's no way to send the keyboard input again to the applications window.
