It seems the protector was upgraded to a newer version which fixes some wine compatibility issues. The game starts fine now, I played a bit with demo. Downloaded here: http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.php?PHPSESSID=25ba92577df7bfabb59ee3fc01… Do not download from their main site for now (http://www.taleworlds.com/mb_download.html). Seems they didn't upgrade yet (only non-working 0.808 version available as of this writing). Thank the game developers for omitting Themida's ring0 protection techniques. This allows to play the game under wine. If you experience a crash, DO NOT use +relay feature to collect logs. The protector messes with API entries (emulating entry opcode sequences) which won't work well for some wine API when relay thunks are used.
