I don't have time for arguing on the Internet in bugtracker comments, you
calling me a kid is classic :) I'm just going to say that the logs 0.9.39 ->
0.9.40 differ, not the logs demo -> retail. You're right. These are the same and
I haven't noticed that. I won't be posting the log of the demo anymore.

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

A user reported this "hang" in appdb. I tried the game, and it starts nicely in

I own this game myself but didn't open a bug report for it. You wonder why?
This game never worked with wine prior the ddraw rewrite or after. The only
difference is that you could watch the intro before the rewrite.
This game is a multithreaded ddraw game. So I feared to open a bug that would
possibly ending as a duplicate.
I wanted to open a bug when multithreading d3d is supported in wine, which is
now very close indeed.

>>"but the logs aren't identical."
They _obvisual_ are. The only difference is, that the sound buffer underrounds
were fixed in 9.40 but they don't have _anything_ to do with the crash.
Don't act like a kid who thinks it just have to make enough noise that someone
pays attention to it. Wine developers usually read the ml and look at bug
reports, so don't assume they wouldn't care if you not post everyday a log.
It is nice that you'll update the bugs regularly but don't post twice or more
the same logs. It is not necessary that you post the log of demo _and_ retail
version.
If there would be a difference then you would have to open a bug for the demo
_and_ one for the retail version.

I already did. Here are more explicit instructions.
Assuming your app has an installer, please try the
following:
1. Remove the .wine directory in your home directory
2. Install your app
3. Open a shell window and run your app like this:
wine myapp.exe > log1.txt 2>&1
4. Attach log1.txt to this bug report (if it's large, compress it first)
by clicking on 'Create a New Attachment' above.
(Never paste logs in the comment window; our associate Knuckles
will fit you for concrete galoshes if you do that :-)
5. Also try native dcom as follows.
Open a shell window and paste in these lines:
wget http://kegel.com/winetricks
sh winetricks dcom98
(This will download and install dcom98, and tell Wine to use it.)
Then run your app and let us know whether it behaves better.

Oh, definitely.
I'm sorry if my report wasn't clear on that, that file is definitely generated
when the game is ran, not when it is installed.

What is wrong with keeping the logs up to date? The reason for the crash is
identical, but the logs aren't identical. I care about this problem, am not a
programmer and I try to do everything I can to keep this problem on the radar of
the developers. You think once we get to wine 0.9.69 someone will bother looking
at an old bug report with very old debug logs? Most people will assume the
problem had been fixed along the way already.
