http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12374
Summary: Bad DEL key handling with a Czech keymap
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.58.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: winex11.drv
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: lubosd(a)gmail.com
When I switch to a Czech keymap, the DEL key works as a COMMA key. Therefore it
doesn't just remove the selected text, but replaces it with a comma. It works
fine with US and Spanish keyboard layouts.

still utorrent is no longer even visible for me. I can't even see the tray

Freelancer had errors like this when run on Windows. A very common cause of
problems was people with a hacked frauenhofer mp3 codec installed (to allow
encoding at higher bitrates for example). Removing it and using the mp3 codec
that came with Windows fixed things*. Funny to see something similar crop up
in Wine.

It _is_ actually .mp3, just with the extension changed to .wav for some reason.
Just in case anyone wants to look at them :)

Further, from
http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/freelancer/freelancer_demo.txt :
- Missing Game Sounds
If you experience missing game sounds throughout Freelancer Trial Version then
a different audio codec is probably being used rather than the one provided by
Freelancer Trial Version.
- Please follow these steps if some sounds and speech are still missing after
installation:
- Uninstall any 3rd party codec pack or the Nimo Codec pack from your system.
- Uninstall Freelancer Trial Version.
- Go to the following directory, C:\WINDOWS\system32 and delete the file
"l3codecp.acm". If there happens to be another file named "l3codeca.acm",
delete this too.
- If your system is Windows 98 or ME, open the system.ini file located in your
system folder; C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM. Delete ONLY the line that starts with
"msacm.l3acm=". In the case of the Nimo codec pack, this will read
"msacm.l3acm=l3codecp.acm"
- If your system is Windows 2000 or XP, open the system registry editor
(regedit) from the RUN command window.
- Locate and delete the following key:
\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32\msacm.l3acm
- Load the Freelancer Trial Version installation CD and locate the REDIST
folder. Within the REDIST folder, double click on the file named "WMFADist.exe"
and follow on-screen instructions.
- Install Freelancer Trial Version.

The problem is lessened (the full pink background doesn't seem to appear
anymore) but the pink border around the letters (The attachment titled "The
less common state for text to be rendered in") still remains and the text is
completely pink when scrolling back to prior conversation elements.
As far as I can guess from what I remember of using them on real Windows, Wine
is giving it 1-bit transparency when it's asking for an alpha channel. (The
scrollback text should be ghostly rather than pink and the pink border on all
text should be anti-aliasing)

Forgot this one (sorry), quick link to Microsoft showing more info on Layered
Driver Architecture:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms791644.aspx
Again, just for info based on comment above:
"There is no point to stub/implement IoGetDeviceObjectPointer without
additional
wine server infrastructure present (support of layered drivers)."

Just for reference, there is an interesting post on how older versions (4.8) of
Securom work here:
http://forum.alcohol-software.com/index.php?act=ST&f=32&t=1395
Although indirectly related, methods people have used to allow backup copies to
be made seem to have revolved around reading the structural information of the
disc using Data Positioning Measurement. The copy protection checks for the
delays in reading the disc caused by the deliberate changes made to its
structure during manufacture.
I also found this interesting:
http://www.wipo.int/pctdb/en/wo.jsp?wo=2007026297&IA=WO2007026297&DISPLAY=S…
.. a patent application entitled "Method of Storing Rotating Media Data in
Image File", which demonstrates an approach to storing the information about a
disc in a Media Descriptor File. In particular, this diagram:
http://www.wipo.int/pctdb/images/PCT-IMAGES/08032007/IB2006052961_08032007_…
Obviously, this doesn't help fix any Securom problems you might be having, but
if (like me) you had no idea how the copy protection works, then it is
educational.

I think bug 6058 is not quite the same problem as my one. It seems that Niklas
can connect with a CS server but I can't.
