Summary: Config Wine audio test crashes
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: charlemagneb(a)comcast.net
Problem: On attempting to config audio, I initially get the 'There is
no audio driver currently specified in the registry...' error
message. I initially selected the EsounD driver, and upon hitting the
'test' button, the application froze, did not respond to a wait, then
had to be terminated. I repeated ALSA and OSS drivers with the same
exact results.
Hardware: AMD Athlon64, Award Bios V1.8, Audio is RealTek ALC850.
Software: Ubuntu 8.04, Wine (don't know off-hand, but downloaded
today)
Ubuntu, using whatever drivers it loads, plays audio just fine.

a6ef9860-c720-11d0-9337-00a0c90dcaa9 is IDispatchEx. That will take quite a
bit of time to implement.

Summary: wine-pthread: relocation error
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc2
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: leohome(a)free.fr
Since I have installed Hardy Heron 32 bits, the precompiled versions of wine
don't run .exe or winecfg. Here is the message returned :
/usr/bin/../lib/../bin/wine-pthread: relocation error:
/usr/bin/../lib/../bin/wine-pthread: symbol wine_get_build_id, version WINE_1.0
not defined in file libwine.so.1 with link time reference
I have uninstalled and installed wine several times, but the bug is always
here.
This happens with wine 1.0 RC1 and RC2.
If I download and compile wine from the sources, all is OK.

It continued to happen to me with the latest wine.
I then upgraded my PC (8800GT graphics), re-enabled GLSL, and the game works
really well with dxlevel 90.

This is fixed for me by using win98 for hl2.exe as mentioned in other comments.
Thanks!

Does 'wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks && sh winetricks flash' work around
the bug?

What about winetricks? You can just do
'wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks && sh winetricks flash'
Does that help?
