On a fresh .wine directory, when I run wine iexplore http://winehq.org, the application window appears, and I'm prompted to install Gecko, but then once it's installed, the contents of the window remain blank, save for a new widget border appearing at the top of the window contents. If the window is resized, the contents stop repainting themselves white, leaving a dark gray background after being covered. To use it, you need native msxml3.dll and jscript.dll (no registration is needed, copying files works fine) and an attached hack. Currently, the installer window shows up (with error).
