Created an attachment (id=15073)

Patch to add basic ThreadPool implementation
The previous patch was accepted into Wine.
This one adds a basic DirectPlay8ThreadPool object implementation. Now the
games crash when attempting to create a DirectPlay8Peer object. I'll try to
make a patch for it, which should resolve this bug given the info from Infinite
Interactive.

Someone should change the summary.
I hope Vitaliy does that if Louis isn't available.

--- Comment #38 from Ed Sternin <ed.sternin(a)brocku.ca> 2008-07-25 17:05:18 ---
OK, I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, this bug is NOT FIXED.
Under SUSE 10 or 11, under Zenwalk (Slackware-derived) from
ibiblio.org(current), which both have wine 1.0, the bug persists. I tried to
vary most of the winecfg options that seemed relevant (os version, graphics
options).
The nature of the problem has definitely changed, as the face of the
instruments is no longer black, and the graphics screens are re-drawn properly.
However, roughly half of the text-based selector widgets are blank. For
example, on the face of the scope (both small and enlarged version the same),
the time base is blank. The vertical resolution on the two channels is blank.
On the function generator, the NUMERICAL widget for the frequency is shown
properly, while the UNITS widget (Hz/kHz/MHz... etc) is blank.
When clicked on the widget arrows, the program performs as expected, changing
the values/settings for both the displayed and the blanked-out widget, but the
usability is severely affected, as one never knows what the values are.
Very frustrating, as it seems so close. Could it be some missing fonts? font
colours?
Please, REOPEN the bug.
In addition, the crashing on exit when using the window-close button has become
much more severe, it goes into an infinite loop, while before it would give a
handful of errors, but eventually crash out. Now, it generates an endless
stream of Error pop-ups, and no amount of clicking OK ever exits wine, it needs
to be explicitly killed using kill/killall.

Summary: 90º rotated text not shown
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.1
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: artome(a)gmail.com
In some windows graphical aplications, eg. Originpro7.5 or igor, text rotated
by 90º are not shown (this includes the default y title).
I'm using opensuse 11.0 and with the wine version that comes with the linux
distribution (0.964, rc3) everything works quite well but with all the wine
updates afterwards, at least since 1.0, including the daily snapshots the
vertical text is not displayed, I can produce screenshots. There is no error
output when I run wine in a terminal so I do not know what aditional
information I could give.
