I am not able to reproduce the problem anymore with wine-1.1.42. So as far as I
am concerned you can close this ticket as fixed.

I've tested JOTR and JOE in Wine V1.1.42 and this issue is still present.

Hello,
unfortunately it appears the problems has even worsened:
Now the application crashes without even starting with the following errors:
wine Circ.exe
err:module:import_dll Library krb5_32.dll (which is needed by
L"C:\\ALEPH_20\\Circ\\bin\\Circ.exe") not found
err:module:import_dll Library comerr32.dll (which is needed by
L"C:\\ALEPH_20\\Circ\\bin\\Circ.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for
L"C:\\ALEPH_20\\Circ\\bin\\Circ.exe" failed, status c0000135
This is with ALEPH version 20.01, wine 1.1.43 and Ubuntu 10.04 32bit
Also the installer, which previously worked without problems, now complains
about random dlls missing (i.e. msvcirt.dll which instead is present and other
ones) and aborts the installation. This test has been made by manually copying
a working installation from a native windows into wine's drive_c folder.

(In reply to comment #41)
Just do the microphone test in game options on Audio tab.

I am using a Logitech USB headset with microphone when playing TF2 and I am
told by others that when I talk it sounds broken-up (stuttered audio) and
crackly.
So I think I can confirm that this is still a problem with Wine 1.1.43 and ALSA
(over PulseAudio on Ubuntu 10.04, was a problem for me in 9.10 as well). Is
there some test I can do to confirm this is correect?
