terminal window output with the errors
When trying to start "Drakan: Order of the flame" I get an error box saying
"The program Drakan.exe has encountered a serious error and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience."
I tried all kind of combinations for running the program - windowed,
fullscreen, with and without "Vertex shader support" and "Allow pixel shader",
virtual desktop, etc. I have also disabled the sound from the setup window at
the start of the game in order to eliminate the possibility for sound
compatibility issues.
I have tried the fixes to the game described at the very bottom of
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?bShowAll=true&bIsQueue=false&bIsR…
by Christian Romane on Monday July 20th 2009, 7:02
The problem still persists. I checked some other bug reports related to Pol.exe
without success.
The problem seems to be in:
fixme:d3d_surface:surface_load_ds_location No up to date depth stencil location
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000014 at address 0x20ba7a4e
(thread 0009), starting debugger...
Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000014 in 32-bit code
(0x20ba7a4e).
The full output of the terminal window is attached.
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx, with kernel 2.6.32-22-generic
i686, Gnome 2.30.2, on an AMD Phenom II, with graphics from ASUS with ATI
HD4850 chipset with the latest ATI/AMD proprietary drivers. From forums and
info on the internet I know that Drakan uses obsolete directX calls which don't
work on newer graphics cards. However it works fine on the same PC under
Windows XP SP2. As an extra, the game fixes/patches described here
http://www.arokhslair.net/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2692
are supposed to fix the problem. I have tried them in wine too, but again no
success.
Many thanks to everyone willing to help on the issue.

from when I ran in my terminal and I can let sc2 run as long as I want and

Summary: The win_skip()s in msvcrt/tests/printf.c are broken on
Win95/98 and NT4
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.43
Platform: x86
URL: http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=blob;f=dlls/m
svcrt/tests/printf.c;hb=HEAD
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: msvcrt
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: alexander.scott.johns+winebug(a)googlemail.com
In commit b205fd8108eca2fd29705875e53ed852f56a6b6d, I added some win_skips to
the tests in msvcrt/tests/printf.c. The really strange thing is that on
Win95/98 and NT4, the win_skips fail, as though they are not running on
Windows:
printf.c:926: Test failed: _vscprintf not available
printf.c:931: Test failed: _vscwprintf not available
printf.c:936: Test failed: _vsnwprintf_s not available
printf: 357 tests executed (0 marked as todo, 3 failures), 0 skipped.
This bug only affects printf.c. It doesn't affect any of the other files in
msvcrt/tests which use win_skip.
It didn't occur when I submitted the patch as a WineTestBot job, only when run
as part of winetest.exe.
I don't know what is causing it, so I'm filing a bug.
Random notes:
* The only machines affected all use version 6.0.8797.0 of msvcrt.dll.
* printf.c is the only msvcrt test which uses _CRT_NON_CONFORMING_SWPRINTFS
(but the tests are compiled with mingw and Wine headers (I think) so this
shouldn't have any effect).
* printf.c is the only msvcrt test which uses __ms_va_list and co. (but this
should have any affect either)
