Dragon Age : Origins works with the new wow64 experimental mode but it's very

Demo application to reproduce the issue
Wineconsole does not support applications writing Virtual Terminal sequences
through the Console API. That's fine. However, when enabling the console
ENABLE_VIRTUAL_TERMINAL_PROCESSING mode on stdout with SetConsoleMode, no error
is returned, so the application has no way to detect whether VT sequences are
supported or not. This is documented in
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/console/setconsolemode.
The port of Turbo Vision at https://github.com/magiblot/tvision is affected by
this. When using the Console API, Turbo Vision prefers VT sequences over
SetConsoleCursorPosition/SetConsoleTextAttribute for code reusability and
performance. Nevertheless, it can fall back to the latter method when
SetConsoleMode fails to enable either ENABLE_VIRTUAL_TERMINAL_PROCESSING or
DISABLE_NEWLINE_AUTO_RETURN. Since SetConsoleMode does not return error on
wineconsole, garbage is shown instead of a colorful interface.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
To reproduce the issue on Turbo Vision:
(A) - Using the attached 'tvdemo.exe'
1. Run the application on wineconsole. You should see a black-and-white
background and escape sequences drawn on the console.
2. Press Alt+F, then D. You should see the command prompt, and the message "VT
enabled" at the top, which demonstrates the issue in SetConsoleMode.
(B) - Compiling from source code (requires up-to-date CMake and MSVC).
1. Insert the following code after line 63 in source/linux/win32con.cpp
(https://github.com/magiblot/tvision/blob/dd4e410e60a34e08053399e346d4ed4e63…):

EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
On Windows, support for VT sequences can be disabled by turning on the "Legacy
Console" mode. If tvdemo.exe is ran in these conditions, the interface is
displayed properly. If entering the command prompt by pressing Alt+F, then D,
the message "VT not enabled: 87" is displayed (error 87 stands for
ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER), which is what should be shown on wineconsole as well,
since it clearly does not support VT sequences.

Now I expect notepad to run in a virtual desktop.

The program needs "winetricks gmdls", and currently only works with
wine-staging due to bug 43638.
However, the screen is completely white, only the music plays. You're advised
to use "emulate a virtual desktop" if you want to test the hack, then you can
quit the fullscreen with ESC.

Well, the rest of the OpenGL story is known and the current behaviour makes
sense.
Back to the actual problem...
The creation of the window which ought the be used for OpenGL context/rendering
fails because atom 0xc019 can't be found/resolved.
I should have looked more carefully at the trace log and the demo disassembly.

hack to start Onenote
The relaylog below *** made with ONENOTE (MSOffice 2010) shows problem
apparently seems to be in wbemprox, missing Win32_ServerFeature class
The attached crappy hack allowed me to start Onenote, and also Onenote from
Office365 starts with it. Crappy hack is only to show where the problem is and
problably contains several errors, hopefully someone can fix this in proper way
(hint at Hans;)).
Sidenote: reverting the hack makes Onenote from Office365 run into the bug
again, but Onenote from office 2010 now continues happily to start; maybe it
sets some registry key once started and the patch is not needed anymore? No
idea.

Missing file names in Windows pull down
Hi All,
Would you guys fix this for me?
I am using Lotus Word Pro N9.8.0208.1200. When you open two files (documents)
from the command line (the jpeg I have attached), then go to the "Window" pull
down to select which file to bring into focus, the file names are missing. If
you start Word Pro, then use File, Open to select two files, one at a time, the
second file does not show.

STDOUT/STDERR log when warcraft-iii-reforged-1.33.0.19194 is starting an
switching to black main menu
Last night (2022-08-18) Blizzard released an update for Warcraft III Reforged
from version 1.32.x to 1.33.0.19194.
Since then the main menu of the game is just black!
But I can hear the sound of the main menu.
I attached a STDOUT/STDERR log.
Version 1.32.x of the game was running fine using wine-staging-7.14.
(didn't test any other wine version before)
Wine versions I just tried:

wine-devel-7.15
OS: Debian-11

At the main menu:
When the cursor is moveed around it 'seems' to be at a very low framerate and
it jerks about.
In-game:
When freelooking around, the game seems to stay at the correct rate but the
mouse movements are jerked and misinterpreted. It looks like the FPS is
dropping to 5 when the jerks occur, but the FPS remains constant through the
jerks.
Audio is not effected.

On every games I try, when I set to Windows XP, the sound is working correctly
but if I set to Windows 7 and higher, the sound will stutter, whatever the game
you are trying.
It's a bit annoying when you have to set the OS to Windows 7 like with Enter
the Gungeon to make it work.
I tried Resident Evil Revelations and Enter the Gungeon, they both have the
same problem so I guess it's something related to FreeBSD (maybe more BSD OS)

Output of Wine 4.21 running Assassin's Creed
So here it is, it might be a bit long and I'll try to be as precise as I can to
explain the problem.
First, list of tested games :
Far Cry 2 : No audio problem ✔
Crysis : No audio problem ✔
XIII : No audio problem ✔
Far Cry 3 : Crackling audio ✖
Assassin's Creed : Crackling audio ✖
I ran all the games set on DirectX 9 and I built Wine to use Open Sound System
for audio (if this is important). Assassin's Creed 1's prefix is set to WinXP
and Far Cry 3's one is set to Win7 (because of Uplay).
The problem is that the audio on Far Cry 3 and Assassin's Creed is weirdly
crackling and slower than it should be but, not EVERY sounds in the game are
making the audio crackles. On Assassin's Creed, it's when a lot of people are
around me and everytime I use the eagle vision. In the menu or when outside the
Animus (in the present time of the game where there are only three people and a
tiny room), the audio works well. Also, an important point is that neither
Assassin's Creed nor Far Cry 3 are slowed down to fit the slowed down audio
issue. They both work very well when it happens which is causing a strange
issue I'll describe AND SHOW below.
I'm using a GTX 765m to play which is not bad for old games like these.
"Your computer certainly isn't powerful enough to run the game !" you say...
Well, you are not totally wrong, I could have better hardware but, in the past,
when I was playing these games on Windows then, later, on GNU/Linux, I never
met this problem. The two differences are that I'm playing, for the first time,
Assassin's Creed _ON_FREEBSD_ and we are now almost in 2020. My last Assassin's
Creed session was on GNU/Linux in 2016. Wine changed so much in almost 4 years
!
But let me remind you that only two of the five games mentioned above are
having issue. all my native FreeBSD games (OpenMorrowind, Xonotic, Minetest,
Tales of Maj'Eyal, Quake II from Yamagi's source code etc...), videos read with
mpv, music listened with moc and even Firefox are all working well without
crackling or slowed down audio. And three tested games on Wine with OSS are
working perfecly. I could have tested more games but I think three is good
enough.
So here is the "show" I mentioned in the beginning. I took a video of
Assassin's Creed's problem. I recorded it with my phone so... sorry for the
poor quality but you can see the problem :

In this video, you can see two people speaking together. In the normal game,
one speak and, when finished, the other answer. They _NEVER_ speak above the
other. In my Assassin's Creed, the game is running well but the audio is slowed
down which creates a desyncing between the slowed down voice played and the
mouth of the character. And, because the game is running well beside this
issue, one didn't finish his sentence and the other will start his speech over
the first one (it shouldn't happen).
I found a longplay video of the game which is certainly played on Windows. I
copied the video link to start at the exact same moment as the one I recorded
from my computer and you can see how the game should normally behave :

About the crackling audio issue, it can be heard by the end of my video when I
use the eagle vision.
For Far Cry 3, don't even need to run the game to hear crackling and slowed
down audio. I also took a video of the problem, it speaks for itself :

I copied the video to start at the same time of my video of Far Cry 3, in the
menu. What you can notice is that the normal music is faster than in my video,
it's the same problem than with Assassin's Creed 1.
I fetched the output of Wine when running Assassin's Creed 1. It repeatedly
says two things so I cut it into "head -n 50" and "tail -n 50". I watched the
long output and nothing is different between the first 50 and last 50 lines.
I hope I was clear enough, English isn't my native language so I apologize if I
didn't use it correctly.

Hello,
since the update to wine 7 it is not possible to run mostly Unreal Engine 4
games.
In the log there were indications that something might be wrong with the xaudio
2_7 dll.
So I just applied faudio via winetricks and the games work again.
Unfortunately this is not a permanent solution as there is a bug on platforms
like Mac OS, FreeBSD that if you use native,buildin xaudio the sound does not
work correctly in terms of stuttering and slightly distorted sound.
As far as I know the games worked correctly in Wine 6.0.1.
Unfortunately it is not possible for me to test more in wine-devel because the
port is very often defective and also just once again not working. (Last
version tested was 7.21 and it was there too)

Unfortunately there is no further information/details *which* copy-protection
scheme needs and actual implementation.
No applications/games are mentioned.

When attempting to run the windows version of X-plane 11 (to get access to
windows only add-ons) the game will not run with vulkan enabled. When
attempting to start the simulator in vulkan mode this is the error message:
"The graphics card or driver lacks support for a required extension:
VK_KHR_external_memory_win32" and coontinues to run but with opengl. This
happens on Arch Linux and Debian Sid, and so far this issue has occurred for
everyone who has tried running the game with wine using vulkan.

When I submit a job manually on the testbot, I can only run one instance of one
executable. For a binary, this makes sense, since there's only one binary; but
a patch, for which a choice of Wine test executables is offered, can affect
multiple Wine unit tests. I then have to submit the job multiple times, one for
each test unit affected. This seems... suboptimal. It'd be much faster and more
convenient if I could run multiple tests in a single job.

When attempting to save a game highlight as a webm video file, Overwatch 2
*seems* to be encoding the video as it should, in that it uses the CPU and
takes an appropriate amount of time to complete. However, the resulting file is
only about 700K, and doesn't play in any player.
Examining the file with MediaInfo shows what looks like a reasonable container
with video and audio parts, but only 1ms duration.
I get the same results in all of these Wine versions:
wine-9.0-rc2
wine-9.0-rc2 (Staging)
wine-ge-custom (aka lutris-GE-Proton) 8-23

32-bit wine environment and selected W95 as OS version.

In some games made with RPGMaker VX ACE the input does not work after you have
moved window in desktop (input focus gone and back again).
Symptom is that game character does not move, menu is not opened on pressing
esc and so forth.
This is repeatable on Debian bullseye with wine 4.0.2, Wayland + Gnome on
x86-64 (Linux 5.4.1).
To repeat simply grab the window with mouse, move it, click inside window and
try keyboard input again.

Playing Alansya Chronicles in some situations the game will hang and needs to
be forcibly closed. This happens on all Wine 7.x versions and I haven't tested
with older versions of Wine.
There are specific log entries to note when this hang occurs:
(wine:3413): GStreamer-WARNING **: 22:20:23.968: failed to create thread: Error
creating thread: Resource temporarily unavailable
028c:fixme:quartz:DSoundRender_UpdatePositions Underrun of data occurred!
Game uses many short audio samples during playback so perhaps thread pool is
exhausted? Second entry would indicate that there is synchronization issue in
the playback.
But there is another indication that the dsound code is iffy:
01a0:err:quartz:DSoundRender_SendSampleData WaitForSingleObject() returned 0.
This log entry is triggered when This->flush_event is signalled and the code is
expecting timeout. This by itself is already strange looking code (from
Win32-style standpoint), but what the code does next is even stranger.
Flush event looks like it is meant as signal that code trying to write should
exit, the comment says that much:
/* Signaled when a flush or state change occurs, i.e. anything that needs
* to immediately unblock the streaming thread. */
But when DSoundRender_SendSampleData() gets the signalled event it goes back
and tries to continue the loop instead of exiting.
I suspect the code expects that This->sink.flushing would have been set already
when the event is signalled but apparently it isn't.
However, having DSoundRender_SendSampleData() bail out on the event does not
fix the hang, which would indicate there is more to the issue than just one
part.
So, maybe DSoundRender_SendSampleData() could check that if
WaitForSingleObject() returns 0 (event signalled) it could just exit and log
that instead of trying to repeat? It seems to be normal occurrence instead of
error?
The state management seems oddly complicated and like it was added later than
by design initially? I suspect this could be made much simpler to avoid the
issue.
If there is race condition in state management, is it possible the code will
hang indefinitely in DSoundRender_HandleEndOfStream()? That looks like a
possible place that would explain the hang I'm seeing.

All seems to go well, the first setting menu launch with sound
After that the diverse publishing companies videos are played with sound.
After a couple of seconds the Game menu appears with sound effects but NO
MUSIC.

When I re-install WMFADist.exe (probably audio codecs) included in Tron 2.0 cd
it seem to install without a problem but in the console it give some errors:

I'm currently unable to run Roblox Studio at all on the latest wine-staging
version, with winevulkan erroring with "Assertion failed! File:
wine-staging/dlls/winevulkan/loader_thunks.c Line: 5156"

I don't see an stderr or stdout log anywhere except for this error. I tested
both a custom wine-staging build, the AUR package wine-staging, as well as
compiled from source.

I'm using wine-staging 1.9.20.
When you set Hover! to fullscreen, it sets the display resolution and fills up
most of the screen as it should, but it's set under top bar in GNOME, resulting
in several rows of pixels from the bottom of the application also being outside
of the display.
I confirmed that Hover! does cover the task bar in a Windows VM.
There's nothing really in the logs, except for a weird
"fixme:process:LoadModule Strange error set by CreateProcess: 193", but that
shows up before setting fullscreen.

It is the worst git bisect I've ever done. Apart from the lengthy time needed
to test each commit, the regression occurs within a range of 44 commits
(bb065801a69..2a8a4cbbe63), the first 43 of which all die on startup, so we
can't easily distinguish that bug from this one.
I've now had to make a separate branch, "git rebase --onto <that range>" to
copy commits from that range there, then "git rebase -i" to reorder them and
separate the startup-breaking commits (ntdll/kernel32/kernelbase) from the
other commits.
Unfortunately, having done so, it appears the startup-breaking commits are also
the commits that caused this regression. One or more of these is the culprit:
ntdll: Move kernel32 loading into LdrInitializeThunk().
ntdll: Return system dir path for PE mapping bootstrap placeholders.
ntdll: Fail to load non-existent dlls, except during prefix bootstrap.
ntdll: Also check syswow64 to determine if the prefix was initialized.
include: Add more SYSTEM_INFORMATION_CLASS definitions.
kernel32: Implement GetSystemCpuSetInformation().
ntdll: Implement NtQuerySystemInformationEx(SystemCpuSetInformation).
kernelbase: Don't fall back to dll loading for LOAD_LIBRARY_AS_DATAFILE.
ntdll: Set the window title to the image name on the Unix side.
ntdll: Remove load_builtin_dll() and get_load_order() from the Unix interface.
ntdll: Map the builtin or fake dll from the Wine dirs if it's missing from the
prefix.

**Context:**
Like with most media players, Foobar2000's playlist view is essentially a
spreadsheet where each line is a track and each column displays a tag or
metadata field.
If the length of the tag exceeds the width of the column, it gets cut off. You
can see the full tag in a tooltip by hovering over it with a mouse in that
case.
**The problem:**
As long as the tooltip is displayed, the app registers neither keyboard nor
mouse input.
I suspect this problem exists in a variety of
[apps](https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16227), not just Foobar2000, but
here it is especially annoying.
**Expected behavior:**
When input is sent, the tooltip should disappear, and Foobar2000 should react
to the input. This is what happens under Windows 10.

The terrain in SimGolf is not rendering properly. I've attached a screenshot
and a trace log, however I'm not certain where this problem occur, but it's
probably a rendering problem.
I didn't get anything when using the following debug channels:
+ddraw,+d2d,+d3d. In the attached log, I've used
+all,-relay,-dsound,-heap,-pulse,-sync, which might provide a log with too much
information.

When run, the game presents an entirely black screen with no sound. Pressing
Escape will close the game.
On Windows, starting the game plays a series of animations with sound
(Scholastic logo, etc.)

For testing purpose I changed the stub to return S_OK and it allows the
IDE/wizard to run further only to end up in next bug ;-)
So JScript_AddTypeLib() implementation is probably really needed.

In Windows, the COPY command run in a command prompt allows users to
concatenate files by using a plus ("+") operator, for example:
copy file1+file2 outfile
In wine's cmd.exe, it seems to read file1+file2 as a single path and therefore
outputs a "Path Not Found". Also, it does not recognize the "con" keyword used
to represent stdout/stdin. Therefore another method of concatenating files:
copy file1 outfile
copy file2 con >> outfile
does not work either.
My Ubuntu version is 8.04, AMD64 architecture, though I have seen the same
issue on the x86 version as well.

When trying to start paint.net, two instances of winedbg suddenly appear, one
saying "A program on your system has crashed, but WineDbg was unable to attach
to the process to obtain a backtrace." and one providing crash info (which I
saved as backtrace.txt).
paint.net also dropped a crash log in
C:/users/blankie/AppData/Local/paint.net/CrashLogs, and I redirected the output
of `wine Program\ Files/paint.net/paintdotnet.exe` to wineoutput.log.

In Lotus Approach, when you have two or more databases open and have them
windowed (Windows --> cascaded, right-left, top-bottom) the underscore button

The crash is systematic and only happens macOS (see Remi's rbernon-macos-*
cloud test machines).
The issue is probably that Wine is being compiled against macOS' pcap library
which is too old. Using a newer library would require installing it with
something like Homebrew and then making sure Wine can find and use it.
So there are two things to do:
* Detect cases when the pcap library is too old and skip the tests accordingly.
* Check if installing a newer pcap library on the macOS test machines is
feasible.

Scan a directory containing duplicate files.
Right-click any listed file to bring up the context menu.
Trying to access any of the nested sub-menus causes whole context menu to
disappear, whether with mouse or keyboard. I can't find a workaround to access
the nested commands.

Testcase binary and source (VC 6.0 command line for compiling at end of c file)
This could be two bugs, could be one-- I'm not sure. This occurs both in
WM_SETICON, and also when registering a WNDCLASS structure with
RegisterClassEx().
When calling WM_SETICON, wParam indicates whether or not to use the big or
small resource. (ICON_BIG, or ICON_SMALL). Windows reverses these, Wine
doesn't. Running the testcase:
Windows:
icon, then press 'b': get 16x16 IDI_ICON
icon, then press 's': get scaled 32x32 IDI_ICON
Wine:
wine icon, then press 'b': get scaled 32x32 IDI_ICON
wine icon, then press 's': nothing at all
For Wine, you may have to hit 'b' a few times, even restarting the app before
it works-- I don't know why it's flaky.
I noticed this problem because I had ugly icons in my MFC MDI app in Wine, and
realized it was scaling the 32x32 resource instead of using the 16x16 one.
When writing the app, I noticed that CWnd::SetIcon(HICON, BOOL bBig) reversed
the 2nd parameter in reality. Probably Wine just went by the docs and nobody
noticed the docs are reversed from reality.
The other issue that may in fact be the same bug is that the WNDCLASS
structure's icons are reversed as well. I'm thinking it's the same windows bug
responsible for the reversal with the documentation manifesting itself in
multiple places. So it's entirely possible it's just one issue in Wine also
since Wine doesn't reverse them. Running the testcase again:
Windows:
icon: IDI_APPLICATION used (hIconSm)
icon foo: IDI_QUESTION used (hIconSm)
Wine:
wine icon: IDI_QUESTION used (hIcon)
wine icon foo: IDI_APPLICATION used (hIcon)
There's also a question of what happens when you use hInstance instead of NULL

When you send the LB_SETSEL message to a multi-selection list box in Windows,
it also sets the focus to the appropriate item and scrolls it into view if
necessary. In Wine, this secondary function appears not to happen and an
additional LB_SETCARETINDEX message is needed to duplicate the full Windows
functionality.
I don't know if this happens in all circumstances, but it fixed a long-standing
problem in a complex application where a list box would not automatically
scroll as it did in Windows.

I am getting the attached error when I attempt to run wine with a executable
requiring .NET 3.5.
I am using wine 1.2 installed through the ubuntu ppa. I am using 64 bit ubuntu
so my lib directory is /usr/lib32/wine though I don't know if that makes much
difference. Also my full path for the v2 .NET folder is:
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727
I am attempting to have mono26 installed through winetricks be used in place of

Confirmed that this bug does not happen on Windows 7. It works fine there.

Rise of the Tomb Raider d3d12 log
Hello,
I'm on Gentoo + AMD Rx580 + Mesa Git + LLVM git (9.0.0) + Vkd3d Git and i
decided to try the only d3d12 game i have : Rise of the Tomb Raider.
The game runs but crash after the 1st bink video when the main menu must be
appear. The game runs on wined3d/d3d11 but it's unplayable, works (of course
with DXVK) and with the Native version.
I attach the +d3d12 log. Josef, i you need something else to help you, don't
hesitate.

About wine instead of a maximized window
Hi All,
In Lotus Approach, if you use the internal windows control (the low set of
caption buttons) to minimize a single database, it will appear as an icon in
the lower right of Approach's window. If you double click on the icon to
maximize the window again, you get "About Wine 1.1.20" (and no maximized
window)

Terminal logs installing and launching Lightwave under WIne 3.11 in Linux
Lightwave requires Windows Native Firewall Inbound/Outbound Rules in order to
register/activate one's license.

Towards the end of the above thread I posted terminal output as well as
screenshots. Disabling Windows Firewall, as well as deleting the
inbound/outbound rules in Windows, deactivates my license. Re-enabling the
rules and Windows Firewall reactivates my license. Since this functionality
doesn't exist in Wine, Wine hasn't to my knowledge implemented Windows Native
Firewall Rules, it's impossible to register/activate my legally purchased
license in Wine.

***Please note, the above applies only to a FULL license of Lightwave. The
trial, which is node-locked, works as designed. Unfortunately, the FULL license
is not node-locked.

backtrace of explorer.exe crashing
I have 31% of a binary in a local directory because some installer/patcher
crashed during installation. Whenever I use `winefile` or `wine explorer.exe`
and scroll to that file in the directory wine crashes with the attached
backtrace.
It appears to be related to the ICO handling code within wine that expects more
input but that doesn't exist yet.
Attached is the backtrace of running the patcher for the "Dark Age of Camelot"
freeshard "Phoenix" (https://playphoenix.online) which did cause this issue for
me.

I have a Office 365 subscription. I visited https://www.office.com/ After
logging into that page, I am then allowed to download the OfficeInstaller.exe.
Selecting and downloading the installation file beforehand ensures that the
Office installation is bound to the account during installation. The Office
products Excel, PowerPoint etc. are activated accordingly. Within the menus,
however, it is noticeable that you are apparently not logged in after all. The
button Log in appears where the name of the account should actually be. If the
subscription expires, the Office installation notices it. Hints appear that you
should use the subscription (activate it) again. If the subscription was
renewed from the Office.com site, the Office installation will not notice it.
If I open Excel, for example, I now have three options: Login, Buy, Enter key.
If I choose Login, a window opens where I can enter my e-mail address on a
Microsoft page. After entering it I should get to the next menu item where I
can enter my password. But the window there is empty. It is simply white.

According to [1], I'm opening a new issue.
msys2 (based on Cygwin up to 2.5.x) does work on wine-staging.
Since 2.5.0 mintty starts but has no visible output. You can work only blindly
(ctrl+d closes the session).
Actually I've expected that since wine 2.5 msys2 will work not only on
wine-staging but also on wine. Unfortunately the opposite has happened.

You will probably think it is a weird idea running Wine in Ubuntu under WSL.
I tried it to avoid copying many files with my program to test it under Wine.
I noticed this:

This works fine on C:
But if I do

I receive
Invalid function.
I tried this
WINEDEBUG=warn+file wine64 cmd.exe

and there is something more explicit

Hi All,
Would you guys fix this for me?
Word Pro, Note Pad Plus, all think my default printer is my Okidata B4350. And
it is. But, all new documents default to A4 as the paper size and it is not.
It is "Letter". Wine is not picking up the default paper size from my printer.

I want to use a DVD supplied by a computer magazine called Digit in India
on my system just as it can be used on Windows.
For that I right clicked Digit.exe & selected 'Open With Wine' in Dolphin.
There was a crash. I want to supply the crash dump. I hope that dump proves
useful & changes be brought in Wine so that the DVD can run on Linux in Wine.

As you know (C&C Generals Zero Hour) is an old game. And it use DirectX 8.1.
These type of games don't stable in current Windows' versions.
So WineD3D used to valid run them on Windows.

Crash report of macro execution on Microsoft Excel 2007
The execution of a Excel Visual Basic Macro execution does not work when it is
compiled from Wine 1.6.2.
The compilation starts properly, and the window freezes after few seconds.
The macro tested works properly on windows 7.
There is no problem to modify, record the macro, and execute it from a MS
Windows 7 environment.

Hello, we have to use SAS on my university, all students have license to use it
on personal computers, but it's distributed on like 10 CDs and it's horrible
pain to download and install properly even on Windows. I use Linux, so i want
to run it in wine. There are people that managed installing some versions of
SAS in wine, but i think it's not worth the effort even on windows.
Some great guy therefore made SAS Portable, which is (possibly illegal)
compilation of SAS directly executable as single exe file. You can download it
here http://uloz.to/xtKasDE/sas-9-1-3-portable-exe (if it's legal in your
country as it is in mine).
Can you please check why it does not work in wine? It works great on windows.
In wine it just shows popup saying "No access to memory location." and prints
following errors to terminal (see attachments for the same with wine debugging
enabled:

Simple delphi program + source.
Under MS Windows these modal windows can be placed anywhere on the screen,
clicking the main window doesn't hide them. Not so under Wine: clicking the
main window puts it on top hiding the modal windows.

Backtrace of blow up
I began testing Linux Live USB creator on Linux. I am running
wine version wine-1.5.18 installed via YUM on Fedora 18, using
the linux kernel 3.8.0-rc3 compiled from source from www.kernel.org.
What Linux Live USB does, is it creates a Live USB Linux USB thumb drive from
an ISO. I keep a Windows XP partition around to run this program. My hope is
to use Wine to run this program and create Linux thumb drives.
Live Linux USB should task Wine, as it looks for new updates and other
information from its web site.

In some dialog boxes, when you press Tab to cycle to the next text box, text in
the previously-active box remains highlighted. It should not.
To demonstrate, download and install the freeware IDA Pro. Load any Windows
executable into it. Click to position the cursor over any label (e.g. start),
and press N to bring up the Rename address dialog box.
Initially, the Name field is highlighted. Press Tab. The "Maximum length of new
names" field is highlighted, but the Name field remains highlighted. Pressing
Tab again causes the "Local name prefix" field to also be highlighted, with the
previous two fields staying highlighted.
Apparently IDA Pro is built using the Borland VCL (Visual Component Library),
so perhaps this issue could affect other programs too.

I tested IDA Free with Wine 1.5.3 under Lubuntu 11.10, which uses the Openbox
window manager.
When "Allow the window manager to control the windows" is enabled in winecfg,
dialog boxes can get hidden behind the main window. The dialogs are modal, so
the main window doesn't accept any input while a dialog is open. If you
accidentally click in the main window while a dialog is open, the dialog
disappears but the main window does not accept any input.
To reproduce:
- Use winecfg to disable virtual desktop mode and enable "Allow the window
manager to control the windows" if necessary; those are the default settings.
- Download and run the IDA Free 5.0 installer.
- Run the program. Click OK at the About dialog and Go in the Welcome to IDA!
window.
- The maximised main window opens. Bring up a dialog box, e.g. by selecting
Help-> About program... or File -> Open...
- When the dialog opens, click in the main window. The dialog window disappears
behind the main window. (You can reveal it by un-maximising the main window and
moving it out of the way.)
For what it's worth, this problem doesn't happen with the IDA Pro 6.2 demo, but
that uses different GUI code (QT?).

"Der Dieb von Burg Schreckenstein" and "5 Freunde 2 und der silberne
Turm" start with a black screen when it should show an intro video.
Audio is played normally and the app proceeds to the main menu after
the video ends. Also, pressing a key aborts the video as expected.
The video is visible on a native XP machine.
Both apps use smackw32.dll to display the video. I suppose the screen
remains black because an exception is caught soon after start.

- Click Next, Next and Finish in the PE Executable file loading Wizard.
- The disassembly view shows the WinMain routine.
- The disassembly has focus, so you can use the cursor keys and PgUp/PgDn to
move in it.
- Move the cursor, either with keyboard or by clicking the mouse, over a
referenced location (e.g. unk_4CC100 or unk_4BE65C).
- Press N to open the Rename address dialog.
- Type something for the name, e.g. blahblahblah and press return.
- The disassembly does not regain focus, so pressing cursor keys to move has no
effect. You need to click in the disassembly so it regains focus.

another location, a view of the instructions at that location pops up next to
the mouse pointer. You can increase and decrease its height by moving the mouse
wheel.
In Wine this does not work properly. The pop-up display is blank (just the
background colour). Moving the mouse wheel, you can see the text that should be
there, but it is immediately overwritten by the background colour.
To reproduce: download and install IDA Pro freeware version. Run the program
and open a Windows executable. Move the pointer over a reference to another
location in the program and wait for the pop-up display. Notice it is blank.
Move the mouse wheel and (hopefully) see the text being rendered but
immediately overwritten.

This is one of the free games Origin has given away. I was curious of the
working status of origin with wine so I decided to install it. I currently have
only wine-staging 4.5 installed.
Installing origin, login, downloading game - all went fine, but when I tried

I have two identical edit controls with ES_PASSWORD set via EM_SETPASSWORDCHAR.
Identical, that is, apart from 1 having WS_BORDER set and the other not.
The one without WS_BORDER does not conceal its contents as it should when a
password char is specified. The one with WS_BORDER set works as expected.

It seems only WS_EX_APPWINDOW windows are given focus by Wine on application
startup (I.E. windows that have a taskbar button).
Windows that do not appear in the taskbar are not given focus by Wine when an
application is started. Additionally, if the user gives focus to that window
using the mouse, things like MessageBox (I.E. another window that takes focus)
do not return focus to a tool-window that last had focus. Instead, focus is
only returned to the last window which had focus and also has a taskbar button.

In this code, an array of 8 items is declared. The code will continue executing
as long as the nStreams variable is less than 8, i.e. 7 at most. All the loops
in this function with the conditional statement (curStream < nStreams) fail to
iterate through the last item, both before its initialization and when using
it. The line Clang displayed the message on is just that very line where the
eighth item with the index 7 is taken, as the (curStream + 1 >= nStreams)
condition will be true at curStream==6 and nStreams==7. Addressing the
pInStreams[curStream + 1] array will give us the last, previously uninitialized
item.

Although I'm a fan of the "console messages are not bugs" this is a little
annoying, it can repeat several times. Happens under heavy CPU/IO usage and
will repeat until CPU/IO goes back to "normal", this is the impression I have,
it could be something else.
It is sort of easy to reproduce and it is NOT present since the patch that
moved stuff ( http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commitdiff/7d0ddff2 ), it
was something that was changed later I believe started less than 2 months ago.
I can try bisecting but it will take some time so if anybody (Julliard) has a
hint it will be better.
Am I the only affected?

This typically happens with replies to patches:
* In the plain text version the diff is prefixed with "> " characters so it is
not recognized as a patch.
* But in the HTML version or the email the quoting is done through HTML tags
which typically leave "+++" at the start of the line. As a result the HTML part
can look like a patch.
But it could also happen if someone sends a patch in an HTML-only email (e.g.
due to a mail client misconfiguration).
The TestBot normally ignores HTML attachments (see NewPatch() in Patches.pm).
But when patches go through the patches website the TestBot does not have
access to the raw email. Instead it gets the files prepared by the patches
website as in the first link. Such files erase the distinction between the
plain text and HTML part and so mislead the TestBot into creating a job.

It seems the regression appear between Wine 1.7.18 and 1.7.29.
Normally, no problem
Regression : a pop up window say "Insert the disk : 1" but the disk is inserted
Nothing different between versions in the poor logs.
The regression page say to test with the latest code. I will try but I don't
think it will be useful. For a "git bisect" method : too expensive for my
computer, but I will try to have a look at the commits' information.
It doesn't work In wine 1.9.24.

Program error dump after program exit
I can't exit by clicking on the 'x' in the red circle in the upper left corner
of the app window. I also can't exit by right-clicking on the Wine icon in my
Launcher bar, and clicking 'Quit'. The only way to exit is by clicking the
app's 'Settings' pull-down menu, then clicking 'Exit'.
After an apparently successful exit, I get an error window with the attached
bactrace.txt file.

the log it gives displays to me when it freezes up
about on average it freezes up 4 or five times a day during a 10 hr play. and
then this box pops up giving me info which i uploaded below. This started just
in the last week. have been playing for a year on same systems. Thanks guys
for all the hard work you put into this game for us. just hope i can play more
without more problems.

If I run a bash script from wine's cmd, after execution the prompt is not
printed.
I believe this is the cause of an hang in my use case, I'm trying to interface
a windows program with my android phone by making it use the native adb binary;
the trick I used was to replace the provided "adb.exe" with a similarly named
bash script with this content:
#!/bin/bash
/usr/bin/adb $*
If I manually call adb.exe from cmd, the output of commands is correct but no
prompt is printed afterwards.
Tested with wine 1.7.33 under ubuntu 14.04.

The UI windows in A-Train PC Classic are unusable.
Note: This game was ported from the Nintendo 3DS, and most / all of it's UI is
intact. "UI windows" are essentially the game's menu / dialog box interface.
(Called "windows" here as that's what the game's configuration INI file calls
them.)
Attempting to start a new game the first time causes each window to fill the
entire application window and draw on top of each other. With only the top most
window receiving user input.
For the second attempt to start a new game, the windows are correctly sized /
placed but only the most recently drawn window accepts user input with no way
to switch to an inactive window. This breaks the game as the first requirement
of the player is to use an inactive window's "Enter Company Name" button.
The game's configuration INI file contains options for setting each window's
origin X/Y coordinates, width and height. However editing these values manually
seems to result in a deadlock. With the game continuing to update the
application window (minimize / partial hide / etc.) but otherwise refusing user
input after showing the company logos.
Attempting to use a known good configuration file from Windows also doesn't
work. As the game seemingly ignores it with no visible window behavior change
from when starting a new game. As described above.

I'm using winelib to compile a Windows/Linux application, where we want to use
the Linux code for threads, files system handling, network code, shared
memory... and we want WINE just for the Win32 GUI code (as we did not implement
a GUI in the Linux/Unix side just on Windows)

Wine appears to be forgetting or removing my drive mappings. I have an NFS
filesystem mouned on /nfs, i am the owner of that directory with appropriate
write permissions. I do something like this:
# create new wine directory
mkdir /nfs/winetest
# populate wine directory
WINEPREFIX=/nfs/winetest/ winecfg
# Now i go to Drives tab, make a new D-drive, set it to /nfs, then click Apply
# close winecfg
# when i launch winecfg again, the /nfs D-drive is still there
# so far so good
# now launch some random application on the NFS-mount
cd /nfs/
WINEPREFIX=/nfs/winetest/ wine "D:\\prip\\setup.exe"
# result: wine: module not found; application does not start properly
# now check winecfg again:
WINEPREFIX=/nfs/winetest/ winecfg
# now our D-drive mapping isn't set to anything; its empty.
So it appears wine removes my custom drive mappings whenever an application is
launched or tries to access its DLLs located there. If i did something wrong,
i'm not aware of it. Wine should just accept the D-drive and launch the
application, not removing my drive mapping.
I also tested without using NFS; on my home directory.

mkdir ~/driveD
WINEPREFIX=/home/<user>/winetest winecfg
# set drive D to map to /home/<user>/driveD/ type Local Disk
# click apply & close winecfg

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit, wine 1.1.40 per winehq.org PPA; no modifications.
The latest .41 versions is not in your PPA yet, so i can't test. Can anyone
confirm this bug?

Hi All,
Wine 1.7.30 and Smart Suite.
Request for Enhancement:
Currently the first time you open a window (like Word Pro), the window has
horizontal length, but no vertical length, just the decoration bar.
The decoration says you are in Windowed mode. If you click on the Window mode
decoration, you get a full screen window. Click again and you just get the
decoration bar back.
This is really confusing as your thing you have click on the "roll up / roll
down" in the upper left of the decoration. The tip off that you did not, is
the arrow is pointing up. (That doesn't stop yo from clicking it anyway.)
The cure is to drag the line at the bottom of decoration downward, then you get
a windowed window back. That is unless the Role Up/Down arrow is now pointing
down from your clicking on it.
This is really confusing. Makes you think Wine is broken (again).
Would your please consider giving the first time a windows is open some size?
I have attached a picture of what the weird opening screen looks like.

Archive of a log made under ReactOS 0.4.15 which contains WINE's MSI debug
output
When I install it, broken shortcuts (along with shortcuts that are not made
under Windows Server 2003) are being made. The broken shortcuts are missing the
C:\lotus part of the path. I have tried installing it under the latest ReactOS
(which uses the MSI code from WineStaging-7.3), under Wine-Stable 7.0 and under
Wine-Devel 7.20. All of them encounter the issue. You can find more info about
the issue at https://jira.reactos.org/browse/CORE-15204 and can download the
ISO containing the setup program at

archive of the log I made under ReactOS 0.4.15 which contains the debug output

When opening a database (APR) file from a CIFS mapped Windows network share
using a drive letter in dosdevices Approach fails to open the file. The error
message is "Cannot open database "Z:\examplefile.dbf" because it is encrypted."
This problem persists regardless of the compatibility mode in the Wine config.
The program works correctly in a modern version of Windows and a Windows
virtual machine connected to the same LAN.

In Fusion 360, when you call an action, e.g. "create sketch", "extrude", "make
thread", etc, main app creates small window with action parameters (see
screenshot in attachments).
Problem is that these windows most of the time contain more parameters than
window can fit and this window is not resizeable or scrollable.
To reproduce issue simplest way is to:
1. select "create sketch"
2. draw something, simple rectangle is enough
3. finish sketch
4. select extrude

Wine 1.7.6 console output
Under Windows XP BoincTasks runs at around 22% when updating (takes a few
seconds) but idles around 1-2%. Under Wine it runs around 60% all the time. I
cannot work out why. The exact same setup was tested in both cases.

GomezPEER sets its background process (an instance of java.exe) to the lowest
(idle) priority in Windows. It fails to do so under Linux. Does Wine lack the
ability to set process priorities, perhaps?
Apologies if a similar bug is already open but I could not find one.
On newer systems this is not a problem, but on older system the PEER can
consume 100% CPU while processing. The app is designed so that performance of
the PC is not affected, which of course it isn't under Windows (save the usual
Windows-related problems) but it is under Wine.
I'm not sure if I/O priority is also set.
The following does not work as a workaround:
$nice -n19 wine ~/blah/GomezPEER.exe
because this then sets all the Wine components to -n19 and can badly affect the
performance of other apps running under Wine.
Instead, the workaround I use is:
$wineserver -p15
$nice -n19 wine ~/blah/GomezPEER.exe
This way the wineserver remains at normal priority. winedevice.exe in this
case still receives -n19 priority, however.

Hallo,
in version 6.0 many of old problems solved by using FoxITReader - thank you! I
can evaluate digital signs and add picture-signs. I can add certificates from
servers and my own .p12-certificate.
But I can't add new digital sign and also a timestamp-certifikat. By adding a
digital sign it's appear by saving. By Time stamp document I got "network
anomaly".
Must use in a windows 10 environment

What can I do to use digital signs?

Crash log
After choosing "erase disc" in the main menu and then clicking the erase button
(while a DVD-RW disc is inserted in a drive the program can detect), the
program produces an error dialog:
Erasing the disc failed for the following reason: Exception from HRESULT:
0x8001010E (RPC_E_WRONG_THREAD)
Clicking OK to this message results in the MS error report tool popping up,
followed by the Wine crash dialog.
Note: this program needs dotnet20, and it needs the workaround from bug 18012,
comment 2 to be able to detect drives in this section.

In MS Paint (installed with winetricks) the scrollbars don't seem to refresh
when they should unless the scrollbar area is clicked on.
Simple way to reproduce: Ensure that the canvas is smaller than the window (so
no scrollbars are visible) then zoom in on a portion of the picture (ensure
it's not the entire picture). Scrollbars should appear, but instead, they're
invisible. After clicking in the area where they should be, they become
visible.

"Your Version" column in "Maintainership Overview" menu doesnt show word
"staging", while "Current Version" column does (for staging releases even if
"your" test result is the latest (current) one). It happens for example for
these versions maintained by me: Vietcong (MP Demo FistAlpha) [1], Air
Missions: HIND (Steam) [2].
It is confusing, because it looks like I posted test result with "testing"
version and after that someone else posted test with the same version, but
"staging" in this case, which is not true.

But that parameter is currently a long alphanumeric string, not a numeric only

I submitted test results for Time of Defiance

invalid Wine Version number (1.1.45). The form accepted my submission, and I
was later emailed that my results had been added (perhaps because I was the
submitter, perhaps because I am the maintainer of the version). Now

displays my new results in the "Selected Test Results" box, but on no page are
the details of the results visible in the "Test Results" box.
I expect two fixes are required here. First, more input validation on the
submission page. Second, whatever is preventing this entry from showing up
under Test Results.

I understand that following 1.2 .po file are going to be used, so this should
be easier to resolve then.
Philippine English follows American English rules, but currently defaults to
pick up SUBLANG_NEUTRAL which is British English. It should be picking up
SUBLANG_DEFAULT for American English.
I'm not sure if this can be changed before the introduction of .po files but
it's not urgent.

The link in the mail that the maintainer receives, e.g.
"Test Results submitted for version 1.0 of X by Y"

leads to a page that shows the submitter's text with the title
"Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)"
However, the OS/version/rating 'test results' line corresponding to the
submission is missing. Instead the topmost line displays an old (known) entry.
This is really confusing and irritating.
Furthermore, the page displayed does not show a "process" or "reply" buttons. I
need to go to my queue and identify this entry among all the elements of the
queue in order to process it.
I believe both things worked well in the past -- 2-3 years ago?

Hi,
As per Roseanne's request in this bug report

have come across in the AppDB.
I have submitted this test for GOG Galaxy

and when I go to preview it, there is no test data shown whatsoever.
I made the report while using Firefox 52.0 in case it helps.

The top-10 lists on appdb.winehq.org are a very nice feature of the site. Their
purpose of showing off what popular programs work in wine is very useful to new
users and I think adding the "Bronze" and "Garbage" ratings to the page will
also provide valuable information to new users as well as contributors. For new
users it will give quick access to information on programs they may be planning
on attempting to use with wine. For advanced users and contributors it will be
a useful tool to gauge which programs need high quality testing and possibly
give inspiration for developing patches to improve bronze and garbage rating
entries.
My biggest concern with adding these top-10 lists would be increasing the size
of the page even more than it already is though it will also probably drive
users of the appdb to vote for more applications overall.

I think that Version "3.1415926" on the Page for Civilization IV:Colonization
(https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=953) doesn't
belong to this Game.
Instead it probably belongs to the original "Sid Meier's Colonization"
(https://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/sid-meiers-colonization) instead.
Reasons:
-there is no such Version for Civilization IV:Colonization
-the last test mentions a patch for Win95 and a Win16 installer version, this
would fit with the Game from 1995.

the Intel Arc drivers are already using/bundling-ion DXVK to handle DX9 APIs.
That means that if you support Intel Arc GPUs as GPU option, you automatically
support DXVK as well ( because Wine uses kernel driver as-is, correct? ). That
meanst that not accepting buzilla bugs with DXVK is
wrong/offernsive/unfriendly.
If that isa not true, then PLEASE fix the AppDB and Bugzilla to have
conditional handling of Intel GPU and non-Intel-GPU options and educate the
maintainers/reviewers accordingly.

The default search (the search box at the top of this page) does not include
closed bugs (rightly so), but it also does not include resolved bugs. This
leads to duplicates that could be avoided.
See Bug 18601 - a recent regression that is fixed by the next release, but
anyone searching for an open bug for Google Sketchup will not see it unless
they choose to run an advanced search, which some users clearly don't.
I'm sure this is a simple change to the code.

Bugs start out with Mr. Bugs as the default assignee, which is evidently
intended so the mailing list gets copied on all bug changes. That's fine.
But under some situations, bugzilla seems to also automatically add
mr. bugs to the cc list.
For instance, here:

Whereupon Dmitry promptly removed it from the cc:

The fields description page has two sections for Importance. The first one is
right below the status definitions table; right below it are the definitions
for Priority and Severity (which is what users need to see). The second
Importance section is toward the bottom of the page, and it just describes the
field as "the combination of its Priority and Severity" without the severity
definitions anywhere in sight.
Clicking the Importance link on the bug report form opens the page at the
second Importance section when it should open at the first one (or even better,
at the Severity section, since that's what we really want users to see). The
result is that users don't see the actual definitions for severity even if they
do bother to click the link.
