Bug ID: 58804
Summary: Incorrect ConfigureNotify processing in xfce
Product: Wine
Version: 10.16
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winex11.drv
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

When switching from windowed mode to maximized mode in Notepad and back, a
situation arises in which the window retains its size as in maximized mode.
Example:
1) Launching wine notepad
2) A window opens with dimensions of 800x600
3) I switch to maximized mode and the window changes size to 1024x800
4) I switch to windowed mode, the window becomes 800x600 in size for a split
second, and eventually retains the size of 1024x800 (while the mode becomes
windowed)
The bug is reproduced in xfce, I did not observe this bug in mate.
After investigating the problem a bit, I noticed that this behavior is due to
incorrect processing of repeated ConfigureNotify requests with the value
send_event=True in X11DRV_ConfigureNotify.
This is a regression. The bug appears for the first time after the commit
https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/commit/0f1d999bb878ea54214057d3662c11…
, which added asynchronous event handling. Returning to the synchronous method
solves the bug

Summary: double wildcard (.* .???) problem on windows command
line
Product: Wine
Version: 9.21
Hardware: arm
OS: MacOS
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker
Priority: P2

Dear all,
I'm team-working with developers to port Soundshaper, an historical and still
maintained music-audio tool to Mac OS with wine.
http://www.ensemble-software.net/index.html
It seems that wine has some bug in the use of wildcards (.* *.) while using
command line.
Every time a double wildcard is employed, it triggers an "invalid name" error.
Here the string we use:
copy C:\CDPR8\Temp\~X_1.* C:\CDPR8\Temp\~A_1.*
to be clearer:
Copy *.bat /dir works, copy *.bat *.bub does not, apparently the use double
wildcards trigger an "Invalid filename." error.
This is a wine related problem that can be tested in utilities like Wineskin or
Kegworks which can provide a direct access to windows CMD while testing the app
wrapping.
Of course it happens also launching official wine executable by MacOs terminal.
Here a real-life example, using windows CMD with wine:
C:\windows\system32>copy Z:\Users\ratox\Desktop\CDPR8\~X_2.*
Z:\Users\ratox\Desktop\CDPR8\~A_1.*
Invalid name.
Invalid name.
Invalid name.
C:\windows\system32>erase Z:\Users\ratox\Desktop\CDPR8\~X_-1.*
C:\windows\system32>for /l %K in (1, 1, 8) do (
copy Z:\Users\ratox\Desktop\CDPR8\~X_2_c%K.*
Z:\Users\ratox\Desktop\CDPR8\~A_1_c%K.*

GTA: SA backtrace
Movies run fine with 10.16 but not on wine 10.17, tested with a clean prefix.
Note I run GTA: SA with [Silent
Patch](https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto:_San_Andreas#Sile…,
but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work with the game in vanilla.

terminal output from a bad run
After 7abf4432a7d [1], the PlayOnline Viewer runs and seems functional, but
only shows a black screen.
There doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary in the terminal output,
aside from a flood of:
libEGL warning: FIXME: egl/x11 doesn't support front buffer rendering.
Last tested at 'wine-10.17'.
Thank you!

Screenshots and logs
Continuation of bug https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33770.
Tested with bare wine 10.4 and wine 10.4 + vkd3d
110edf32d0b2a2f0a49cdd76c977b9eedd06628e.
Screenshot with native d3dx9_27:
https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=44752
I tested the following combinations:
1) bare wine + builitn d3dx9_27 + native d3dxcompiler_47
2) bare wine + builitn d3dx9_27 + builtin d3dxcompiler_47
3) wine+vkd3d + builitn d3dx9_27 + native d3dxcompiler_47
4) wine+vkd3d + builitn d3dx9_27 + builtin d3dxcompiler_47
The attached tarball includes screenshots and logs for the 4 combinations.
For bare wine (1 & 2), loading takes about 3 mn.
For wine+vkd3d (3 & 4), loading takes 30 s.
With native d3dx9_27, loading is almost instantaneous.
For wine+vkd3d (3 & 4), 85 temp registers are used with a limit at 32.
Seems similar to https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34004#c36.
