Bug ID: 58838
Summary: Unreal Engine's background fps limit has no effect
Product: Wine
Version: 10.17
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winewayland
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: shtetldik(a)gmail.com
Distribution: ---
I'm playing Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 which is using Unreal Engine
5, and it has a setting for background fps limit - i.e. when the game detects
you Alt Tab-ing out (or minimizing the window) it's supposed to limit framerate
with something you can set low (like 30 fps or something).
However it doesn't detect it, which I suspect is a problem with winewayland
driver (though winex11 doesn't help with it either).
Not sure how exactly Unreal Engine does that detection though to narrow it
down.

I noticed that when I'm installing build dependencies using your Debian repo
sudo apt build-dep wine-devel
It's not pulling in libxkbregistry-dev, which results in the build missing
winewayland support. Though I see that winewayland is provided by your own
built packages somehow.
Can you please make libxkbregistry-dev be pulled by build dependencies.

this with the downloadable demo,

Looking at the log, it seems to be looping endlessly looking
for an audio CD to be inserted. This was common practice
back in the day; gamers would always throw an audio
CD-ROM in the drive so they could listen to music
while they played. Games often came on hybrid audio/data cds.
When you insert a hybrid audio/data cd, though,
you have to tell the system to mount the data portion,
else wine won't give it a drive letter.
So, if you jump through those hoops (e.g. insert a
cd-rom and tell the system to mount it), the
game will continue to the next problem: you can
tell the game to start, and the welcome screen then
goes away, but no game window comes up. The log shows:
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x34f820,0x00000000), stub!
fixme:xrandr:X11DRV_XRandR_SetCurrentMode Cannot change screen BPP from 32 to 8
err:xrandr:X11DRV_XRandR_SetCurrentMode Resolution change not successful --
perhaps display has changed?
So I guess the next step is to try this on an 8 bit display.

Bug ID: 58754
Summary: Wine 10.15+ fails to detect
EGL_KHR_client_get_all_proc_addresses extension
despite it being present, breaking 32-bit OpenGL
applications
Product: Wine
Version: 10.16
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: scheckley(a)gmail.com
Distribution: ---
Starting with Wine 10.15, 32-bit Windows applications requiring OpenGL fail to
initialize with the error:
0024:err:wgl:egl_init Failed to find required extension
EGL_KHR_client_get_all_proc_addresses
0024:err:wgl:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo couldn't initialize OpenGL, expect
problems
0024:err:d3d:wined3d_caps_gl_ctx_create Failed to find a suitable pixel format.
0024:err:d3d:wined3d_adapter_gl_init Failed to get a GL context for adapter
This occurs despite the EGL extension being present and reported by the system.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Install Wine 10.15 or 10.16 (32-bit support)
- Run any 32-bit Windows OpenGL application (tested: GoG Tower57).
- Observe EGL initialization failure.
- Application fails to create OpenGL context and cannot render.
Expected Result:
Wine should detect and use the EGL_KHR_client_get_all_proc_addresses extension,
as it did in Wine 10.14.
Actual Result:
Wine fails to find the extension, OpenGL initialization fails, and applications
crash or fail to render with "error creating the renderer: Invalid window"

Bug #: 31232
Summary: The Way Things Work 2.0 installer froze after finished

Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.21

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Regression SHA1: 54d7c8012d1d7369a56779955ced5a09e448a1cd
When started The Way Things Work 2.0 installer (setup.exe),
the setup proceeds normally, through the welcome screen,
quicktime installer prompt (though QuickTime 16bit 2.1.1 installation didn't
work [bug #18260]),
installation options (express/custom), files copying progress window.
But as soon as the file copying window disappeared, the installer froze, no
screen repainting, no message from WINE's console.
(Normally this stage should be creating program groups and ends at the 'Setup
Complete' window)

With WINE before this commit, the installation would continue, with WINE's
Program Manager (progman)
popped up with a dialog from the setup program: "Unable to start DDE
communication with Program Manager." [Abort/Retry/Ignore]
If clicked 'Ignore' (aka. continue despite the error), this step will be
repeated for another five time, each time leaving one Program Manager window
opened (6 window total at the end).
And finished with 'Setup Complete' window.
Note:
The Way Things Work is a 16-bit application, and supports Windows 3.1.
Tested using WINE's Windows version 98.
