NB: I am running this under Sikuragur, so the Wine version is wine-9.0 (SikarugirCX 24.0.7) -------- Playing any PerfectScript .wcm macro in WordPerfect (the macro engine is ps130.exe in X3, ps120.exe in Office 12) silently no-ops. The macro engine process is spawned and connects to wpwin via DDE successfully, but a single CoCreateInstance call required to dispatch the macro fails, and WordPerfect then abandons the operation without any user-visible message. This has been confirmed on both: - WordPerfect Office X3 (PerfectScript engine v6), macOS via Sikarugir (a Wineskin-based wrapper) - WordPerfect Office 12 (PerfectScript engine v5), vanilla Wine on Linux Trying a newer Wine engine inside Sikarugir did not change the behavior. Reproducer ---------- 1. Install WordPerfect Office X3 (or Office 12) into a Wine prefix. 2. Launch wpwin13.exe (X3) or wpwin12.exe (Office 12). 3. Tools -> Macro -> Play, choose any supplied .wcm (e.g. EXPNDALL.WCM from ...\Languages\EN\Macros\WPWin\), click Open. 4. Expected: the macro runs. 5. Observed: nothing visible happens. The macro engine launches in the background, connects via DDE, but the macro never executes. Wine is not the proximate cause -- it correctly locates and loads the registered server -- but the server's own code refuses to hand back a class factory. (d) Other CoCreateInstance calls in the same session SUCCEED: {c0e10001-0006-0006-c0e1-c0e1c0e1c0e1} -> ok {c0e10001-0009-0006-c0e1-c0e1c0e1c0e1} -> ok {c0e10004-0001-0006-c0e1-c0e1c0e1c0e1} -> ok Only -0031- fails. This is one specific class in the PerfectFit framework, not a generic load problem. (e) Immediately before DllGetClassObject is called, pfbc130.pfc's DllMain(PROCESS_ATTACH) issues two consecutive anti-debug probes: trace:process:NtQueryInformationProcess (0xffffffffffffffff, 0x0c, ...) trace:process:NtQueryInformationProcess (0xffffffffffffffff, 0x0c, ...) ProcessInformationClass 0x0c is ProcessDebugPort. PerfectFit was Corel's anti-tamper / licensing framework. The probe result is plausibly cached as a flag that gates the class factory for protected CLSIDs. This is a hypothesis -- confirming it requires stepping pfbc130.pfc!DllGetClassObject in winedbg. (f) Side note (probably not the root cause, but worth fixing): Wine's DDEML cannot handle Corel's private DDE clipboard format 0xc0ea used by the wpwin <-> ps130 conversation: fixme:ddeml:WDML_Global2DataHandle Unsupported format (ffffc0ea) for data ..., passing raw information fixme:ddeml:WDML_DataHandle2Global Unsupported format (c0ea) for data ..., passing raw information What this is NOT ---------------- Things ruled out by investigation: - COM registration: the registry has full and correct entries for every PerfectFit CLSID, ProgID, Interface/TypeLib, ProxyStubClsid, and PFBC130/PFOB130/PFQS130/PFSE130/PFDT130/PFVM130 component server, written by Corel's installer. - Wrong DLL registered: pfbc130.pfc *does* contain the failing CLSID in its binary (verified by 16-byte struct grep), along with 42 other CLSIDs in the same Corel-tail family. The registry maps the failing CLSID to the right DLL. - DDE broken: DDE conversations between wpwin and ps130 establish correctly and exchange messages. The Corel-private 0xc0ea format fixme is real but is hit during the conversation, not at setup. - Missing dependency: pfbc130.pfc's DllMain(PROCESS_ATTACH) returns 1 (success). All other DLLs in the dependency chain (MSVCRT, KERNEL32, USER32, GDI32, ADVAPI32, SHELL32, COMCTL32, ole32, OLEAUT32, ThemeManager, CRLUTL114, MFC42) load fine. - DllRegisterServer not run: the prefix has the registration; that's not the issue. For example, building at 11.7 (or current master) and then going back to 11.5 and running the PlayOnline Viewer (the Final Fantasy XI Online launcher) will be less than successful: wine: Call from 7BF6D278 to unimplemented function winegstreamer.dll.winegstreamer_create_color_converter, aborting wine: Unimplemented function winegstreamer.dll.winegstreamer_create_color_converter called at address 7BF6D278 (thread 0178), starting debugger... I'm having trouble with getting the backtrace to print into my terminal, and the dialog doesn't want to show it either for current builds, so the attached one is from Wine 10.0. Bisecting it, I didn't quite catch the exact related commits needed for this, but perhaps that's not really necessary. I certainly can dig them up though, if it helps, and once I have soe more time for it. I'd guess it's somewhere here: https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/compare/e679f22c70b...ce7deba1ff Going by releases, building at 11.6 first, and /then/ going 11.5 does work, which I find at least someawhats interesting. Otherwise the 'winegstreamer_create_color_converter' references will remain, but manually removing the 'windows/syswow64/iyuv_32.dll' and 'windows/system32/iyuv_32.dll' files helps. Whenever a program uses mouse warping, a bounding box may trap it at a random time. This is temporarily resolved by causing the window to lose focus. I first knew this bug to occur on 2.4, and it may have been earlier. I knew 2.0 to work perfectly in this regard, but Steam now crashes on that version and cannot test 2.1-2.3. I've created a video demonstrating situations where this occurs. When I open the wine configuration app, wine mine, and dungeondraft they are scaled so the ui is too small to read. I can partially fix this by changing the screen resolution but then when I switch to my external monitor (1440p at 100% scaling) everything is way to big and I need to restart my apps. This does not currently work as WINE is not handling `FILE_RENAME_INFORMATION.RootDirectory == NULL` along with a simple path in `FILE_RENAME_INFORMATION.FileName` for in-place rename. The current code assumes `RootDirectory == NULL` means full path in `FileName`. The `NtSetInformationFile` call works under Windows 10. It is also noted here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/ddi/ntifs/ns-nti… , to perform in-place rename, it is okay for RootDirectory to be NULL, while FileName only needs to be a simple file name. Below attaches a small program for reproducing the error. The program can be built with mingw-w64 toolchain by running `i686-w64-mingw32-gcc -static file_rename.c -lntdll -o out.exe`. The bug has developed gradually. First version that crashes only on unplugging was 9.4. Since version 9.11 wine crashes on both plugging and unplugging. Tests were done by creating a completely new prefix for each tested version. Three Games: - Worms Revolution Gold Edition - Vertical Drop Heroes HD - Tower 57 are not working at all, as the display shows less than 1/4 of the screen being extremely blurred. So all show the same problem and all have low res grphics. I am using 4k screen with DPI factor 256 and I thought changing one or both - scaling and resolution - would do the job. But the small part of the game output visible does not even change in any way when using FHD (1920x1080) res. Is this a known problem or can you give infos/links about this problem? I think "Worms Revolution" is a game which should work as it is really famous for a reason. Unfortunately GOG is only providing support for the OS given - so in that case for Windows - which I would not use. I discussed about trying to support Wine, too - but at least concerning the support they have orders which does not help gamers. I am an experienced Unix administratior form Sciences and IT industry and if I can help, I can provide further info if one could guide about the important parameters. Unfortunately I am not yet prepared to use development versions of Wine an I am astonished that it is not more important to give the latest stable version. Wine HW did a great job as e.g. Atari Reacharged can not work except for "Blach Widow Recharged" with Wine 9 (Kubuntu 24.04 LTS based) while all work flawlessly with Wine 10. If you can give hint to further information, I would be happy. As my tries getting info like AppDB did not work for me at all. The field value is "<HT>www.test.org<HT>x" ("<HT>" denotes a single horizontal tab character), yet Wine shows just "www.test.orgx" in the field. However, Wine clearly knows the horizontal tab characters are present, because it shows them in the text field tooltip stating (in English) "Website address<NEW LINE>[<TEXT FIELD VALUE>]". Professional 2 crashes on startup due to a NULL pointer dereference. I've attached a backtrace, though in previous commits it used to crash in a different function. The backtrace was made from a build compiled from the master branch as of 2026-04-18 (which happens to be tagged wine-11.7). As mentioned, the culprit is as far as I can tell the change introduced in commit 6048ac5dfeb, but I'll admit that I don't know why those changes were made nor why they cause the problem. They absolutely seem related though. It would be a very time-consuming task to reconfigure the mappings for every single game.
