Summary: Command & Conquer Red Alert hangs at startup
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.21.
Platform: PC
URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=158
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: bryan.christ(a)gmail.com
Red Alert hangs during startup. The exact moment at which the game hangs is not
always the same but it never makes it past the very first title screen. In
consideration of bug #4487, I disabled hyperthreading, but that had no effect.
1. Fedora Core 5 with latest updates.
2. Kernel is Linux version 2.6.17-1.2187_FC5smp
(brewbuilder(a)hs20-bc2-2.build.redhat.com) (gcc version 4.1.1 20060525 (Red Hat
4.1.1-1)) #1 SMP Mon Sep 11 01:32:34 EDT 2006
3. Wine is from package wine-core-0.9.21-1.fc5 fetched via yum
4. CPU is Genuine Intel(R) CPU 2.80GHz with HyperThreading.

No, you aren't. This was an *msvcrt* bug long fixed.
If War3 works perfectly, then you don't have a problem. Games *USE* 100% when
rendering graphics. It's by design.
Rewording summary to make it more clear, and to stop providing false hits.

Contribute after changing desktops
This is a screenshot of Contribute after changing desktops. The Calendar
looking app is from the desktop that was switched to. Contribute never
refreshes itself and now uses 100% cpu. This switching desktop process works
fine if there are no subwindows/menus open.
