Summary: ableton live 6 crashes on startup
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
URL: http://ableton.com
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: download
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
This is a continuation of bug 3530.
Ableton Live 5 worked, supposedly:
http://www.winehq.com/pipermail/wine-users/2005-March/017444.html
but Ableton Live 6 doesn't, at least according to this thread on slashdot:
http://apple.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=198931&cid=16298405
(I suspect the slashdot poster was trying the demo, so I'm adding keyword
'download'.)
I can't test it myself at the moment, or I'd include more info.

Please upgrade Wine to 0.9.22. 0.9.21 has a known openGL/D3D bug.
Also it seems you either miss-compiled Wine or binary package you used is not
complete.

Please keep this bug for video card detection.
It's been discussed on wine-devel that there are no suitable means to detect
amount of video memory.
Also Wine doesn't report _exact_ video card type to the application. Instead it
finds a close match and reports that instead.

I can find the Chipset by typing:
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep "Chipset"
This returns (for me):
(--) Chipset RADEON X1600 Series (RV530 71C2) found
(--) fglrx(0): Chipset: "RADEON X1600 Series (RV530 71C2)" (Chipset = 0x71c2)
I can find the video memory by typing:
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep "VideoRAM"
This returns (for me):
(--) fglrx(0): VideoRAM: 262144 kByte, Type: DDR2
Last but not least, if you wanted the driver version you would type:
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep "(II) ATI Proprietary Linux Driver Version
Identifier:"
Which returns (for me):
(II) ATI Proprietary Linux Driver Version Identifier:8.26.18
This may be of some help to you, I don't know... ;)
