Interesting, I'll test this with the latest Git as well later today

Thanks for the hint with the read rights on /dev/input. I set them correct and
it works now. I'll put a note on this into the GTA VC entry in the AppDB.

This bug seems to be fixed in wine 0.9.44 (at least for me). Just make sure you
have read access to the /dev/input/event* files. See bug #7303 for more
information. I guess this bug can be closed soon.

On my machine in GTA VC the player runs forward even if no controller is
plugged in.
A selfmade app coded in visual basic shows me that with plugged controller all
axis are in center position, but the player in GTA runs forward.

I've tried version 2.1, it does not crash wine.
Extended features list of 2.1 version contains an entry "many bug fixes", which
makes me think that Foxit part of this bug is fixed.
Is this wine bug worth to be closed (at least resolved)?

--- Comment #8 from Vitaliy Margolen <vitaliy(a)kievinfo.com> 2007-09-10 00:34:22 ---
It appears that after setting fullscreen WM hint Wine gets ConfigureNotify with
the full virtual size:
trace:x11drv:X11DRV_ConfigureNotify win 0x500b6 new X rect 0,0,1024x768 (event
0,0,1024x768 # 66)
trace:x11drv:X11DRV_Expose win 0x500b6 (5600002) 0,0 1024x768
trace:x11drv:X11DRV_ConfigureNotify win 0x500b6 new X rect 0,0,1600x1200 (event
0,0,1600x1200 # 67)
First one from creating and showing the main window, second from setting
fullscreen WM hint. Not entirely sure what should be done here. Should we
ignore ConfigureNotify if the size of the window is bigger then display? Should
we even set fullscreen WM hint for XVidMode?

There's a new version out of Foxit Reader (2.1). It doesn't suffer from this
bug. Might be interesting to see what changed between version 2.0 and 2.1, that
"fixed" this bug...

Yes. It's a problem with wine 0.9.44 as well.
