Good question, but....
There are other apps which I think run into the same problem. However, they
require windows 95 or 98 to run, neither of these are SMP aware. So I think
running the affected applications will only run on one core and as expected
will work without issue.
Also, I think this might be a duplicate of bug 11317 or vica versa.

Seeings like another evidence that wine is for Codewearvers profit.
That bug affect ALL programs that do a DirectDraw output that is not in full
screen.
A example should be VLC all versions, and mplayer.
Its a common sense that is better a hackish implamentation than a working
feature.
The Crossover run the VLC/Mplayer/quicktime/MY own software that do a
DirectDraw output, and i see everything great !
Why not apply this hack until someone have time to fix it ? Why the opensource
world need to what for 2-3 years until 1.2.0 when CO have a working solution ?
BTW, there´s a .Diff somewhere about this patch ?

Comparing the logs yours seems to get slightly further than mine. I can see the
end of my log in yours with 10 more lines on the end.
What version of Wine are you using and what graphics card / drivers do you
have? Have you made any configuration changes or anything to your Wine setup?

I'm strongly tempted to say that these two errors are related. Since the bug's
title is "Sims 2 crashes on run" it would seem to cover it; do you want to post
in there and we'll close this one?

Would you mind putting the entire console log into a text file and sending it
to me, so I can compare with my error log? It may be that we have the same
problem, but for some reason are getting different messages (or, perhaps your
system is able to give you more detail in stating that it is a DirectX 9.0c
problem, whereas mine for some reason can only note an "unspecified error")
