No, it doesn't fix the bug (or work around it.) What it does do isn't that
interesting.
Folks, this is going to take quite a lot of work, so no need to keep checking
in to say it's still not working. Somebody doubtless will pop up and say
something if there's real progress made on this.

I disagree. I think this is the same bug, only partially resolved. These
symptoms had been there since the beginning.

I'm using a Gentoo Linux.
I had everything working since I upgraded my system.
>From then, wine takes up to five minutes to load anything, even winecfg.
No errors are given, just very slow.
When network is down, everything is working well.
