When running the file through the lnk file created on my desktop, the assert isn't there, but it still doesn't start. Tested with both wine-2.15 and wine-2.15 staging. Hello everyone, I am the AppDB maintainer of "Capitalism 2" a business strategy game which has some issues I would like to point out. The initial issue during tests some releases ago was that mouse control wasn't working but a staged patch could be applied which fixed the issue and got integrated into main wine. https://github.com/wine-compholio/wine-staging/tree/master/patches/dinput Unfortunately a new issue has sprung up in the game which is that when I move the mouse it has some redrawing issues and paints the background. I have included the register dump and the Terminal listing as attachments. I have tried to install Wine many times and it always fails at this point. I installed Wine as follows: sudo apt remove wine* && sudo apt autoremove sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wine/wine-builds sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-devel When I tired to install Bicycle Bridge (setup.exe) I got windows saying to install "mono" and "gecko". I clicked the install button in each of these windows. After the failed install, Bicycle Bridge ran fine until my wife won a game. Then it froze and had to be xkilled. This is repeatable. It's a little piece of software used to administer a particular manufacturer's equipment, commonly used at radio and TV stations. I can confirm it has, and does, work fine under Wine 2.21 - just tested today on a MacBookPro8,1 running the official binaries (https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/macosx/pool/winehq-staging-2.21.pkg) under OS 10.13.6. Meanwhile, I have a new Mac (MacBookPro16,2 - Intel-based), on which I’ve deployed Wine 7.0 via homebrew under OS 12.6.1. There I can start nfremote just fine... but it ignores my mouse input. If I were to start it with the command-line argument "run", it presents me with a window where both keyboard and mouse input are accepted; there I can type in the text fields, so I know it's responsive. But when I hover the cursor over buttons, they do not 'light up’ to indicate such. And when I click, nothing happens. Even in years past, I found that newer versions of Wine exhibited the issue I describe below, so I simply never updated beyond 2.21. If you click Continue, the installer opens INSTALL.TXT in Notepad. When you close Notepad, the installer should continue, but instead it hangs. If you click Skip, the installer works but hangs after installation. The attached patch fixes the problem, mostly. Whenever a program uses mouse warping, a bounding box may trap it at a random time. This is temporarily resolved by causing the window to lose focus. I first knew this bug to occur on 2.4, and it may have been earlier. I knew 2.0 to work perfectly in this regard, but Steam now crashes on that version and cannot test 2.1-2.3. It relies on layered windows and DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea to handle the transparent display. Currently, the main UI elements show, but the game (or any other application) does not show through. This seems to be because DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea is only a stub. I'm not sure if that's the only reason it's not transparent, but it's at least one of the reasons. The program itself uses the unity3d engine along with some native dll calls to the relevant user32 apis to handle the transparency. I was able to get a copy of the relevant code (but not the whole application), of which I will attach. Since I can't get all of the code, I've been using an unity sample application to try to figure out some parts myself (the relevant code is here https://github.com/pheonise/Unity3D-Desktop-Overlay/blob/master/Assets/Scri…) This unity3d application works as expected on windows, but is not transparent via wine (as expected). When i comment the call to DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea, then it its also no longer transparent on windows as well. It seems that if the sample application works, then I can make sure the dev applies to the same technique to the overlay application.
