Fail to run visio2000 installation - wineoss.drv.so

Dear all, When I mounted my Visio 2000 and try to run Setup.exe, I got the following error: err:module:BUILTIN32_dlopen failed to load .so lib for builtin wineoss.drv: /usr/local/lib/wine/wineoss.drv.so: undefined symbol: OSS_MidiInit err:module:MODULE_LoadLibraryExA Loading of native DLL C:\Windows\System\wineoss.drv failed (error 193), check this file. err:module:BUILTIN32_dlopen failed to load .so lib for builtin wineoss.drv: /usr/local/lib/wine/wineoss.drv.so: undefined symbol: OSS_MidiInit I have create a fake-windows directory and I'm using 22042002 version of WINE. IE5.x and Toolbars

This note is just to document what happens in IE5.5 when using the "Favorites" dropdown menu. With the native control, if the mouse hovers over a folder, IE will expand the folder. The expansion is accomplished by the following steps: 1. IE will set a timer on the Toolbar window with id=8001 2. WM_TIMER message for id=8001 on the Toolbar window occurs. 3. Since the Toolbar window is subclassed via comctl.410 (and friends), the subclass WndProc (in native comctl32) somehow calls a part of IE which issues a KillTimer and a PostMessage of message 0xc057 against the main window. 4. When message 0xc057 is dispatched, it issues a few TB_... messages and then eventually issues a CreateWindowExA for the next "BaseBar" window. This then drives the creation of the pop-out window. Since we don't support comctl32.410, .411, .412, and .413, this doesn't work (and will never work till we do support those undocumented routines). <rant> The reason MS can't make a modular Windows is because apparently no one there understands what modular means. The wineshelllink (the script responsible for installing the lnk files in the desktop menu) in the cvs wine assumes, that if you have a .kde directory in your home, then you have kde 1.x installed. And install kde 2.x files only if you have a .kde2 directory in your home folder. But on some systems (eg. RedHat), the kde config files are in .kde in home directory. That is the reason why the .desktop files are not installed on some systems. I have fixed wineshelllink in my cvs copy of wine, but never submitted it, because, I'm not really sure how to fix it to work on all the systems (I dont know how the other packagers do it). MoveFileExA bug and half-a-solution

Hello, The Problem: There is a bug in MoveFileExA (files/file.c). MoveFileExA will (usually) call rename() in libc to move a file. Unfortunately, this causes problems because it does not update the sharing table. I will illustrate with an example. When the Office intaller tries to install Internet Explorer it sees that the file: C:\Windows\System\UrlMon.dll exists and moves it to: C:\Windows\System\IE4Setup\UrlMon.dll it then tries to create the file C:\Windows\System\UrlMon.dll but fails because of a "sharing violation". It believes that a file already exists at c:\window\systems\urlmon.dll, because, according to the shared table, one does. But on the disk, the file has been moved. The Half-a-fix: It seems odd to me that MoveFileExA is directly renaming the file. The other functions in the same file do their dirty work via wineserver. Does it seem reasonable that I should have to add a new wineserver request for "MoveFile" that will rename the file and update the share table? Or am I missing something obvious? Also of note: I do not think this has been a "problem" until some recent changes in MoveFileExA where these lines were removed: /* check, if we are allowed to delete the source */ hFile = CreateFileA(full_name1.long_name, 0, 0, NULL,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); if(hFile == INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) return FALSE; CloseHandle(hFile); If a file was being shared, this code would prevent it from being moved. So, perhaps that was the right fix? Maybe you can't move a file that is being "shared"? If that is the case, there does not seem to be code in place anymore to prevent you from moving a shared filed. What actually happened is that $libdir was already in ld.so.conf, so the script did NOT add it, and therefore, it did NOT run ldconfig. This strategy works when one upgrades modules with identical names, but not when modules are renamed, as was the case with libntdll.dll.so replacing libntdll.so.
