Many thanks to both of you for this: I copied the script into a folder mentioned in my PATH variable, and invoked a Win32 executable I built with the -g compiler option, and it worked! I'll spend some time wondering how you did that, Anton :-) Hoping this also helps anyone else trying to switch their development over to Linux from Windows. Just tried running winedbg with ddd and it seems to be working. I'm attaching a bash script I used to launch it. A) did you try running gdb.exe (the PE port of gdb from MingW) ? B) it's been a long time I didn't try with ddd, but winedbg can act as a gdb remote proxy server winedbg --port NN --no-start app.exe [args...] will start winedbg as a remote proxy waiting for the debugger front end to connect to it ddd (or more likely the underlying gdb) has the ability to connect to the remote gdb proxy (gdb command is 'target remote localhost NN' --where NN is the port number you've used to start with) C) there are also some gdb forks to better support Wine Note that A and B will mostly support the PE side of things; while C can also support the Unix side of Wine

Debugging Win32 apps on linux

Hi, Using Mingw64, I can build a c/c++ Win32 application, but can I debug it? using winedbg application.exe does seem to work, but is there a way of doing it like I would debug a linux application? I can build a c/c++ application with gcc, and then debug it by using ddd application And that works really well. Is there a way to get ddd (or some other program) to act as winedbg's frontend? Even if it's text-mode, that's fine, as long as it's easier to use than gdb Thanks

Mailing Lists Have Moved (Again)

We have moved our Mailman3 mailing lists to a new server. Yes... again. Sorry, but the last provider wasn't working out as intended. This does mean that the subscription lists have been reset. You will still be subscribed, but if you had your email configured to be in digest mode, or set other settings, you will need to login and create a new account and set that up again. If you are simply subscribed with default settings, you shouldn't need to do anything. It will work as before. The email addresses and list headers will remain the same. Also, since the lists are mailing from a new IP address that we are still warming up, your provider may flag as spam. I haven't seen this, but it is worth mentioning. Lastly, we are still importing the email archives. It will take a bit to process, but the messages will be restored in time. If you have any questions or comments let us know. Hi Michael, I am working on dcomp and dxgi CreateSwapChainForComposition. Please see the attached patches. They are on top of wine 8adc2570. I also included a DXVK patch in case you want to test with DXVK. One game I usually use to test it with is Corgi Warlock (SteamID: 414920). I am currently in the process of upstreaming the patches at https://gitlab.winehq.org/zhiyi/wine/-/commits/bug-23698-react-native. However, it seems like dcomp will be a big pain to upstream. A proper implementation would probably require a dwm.exe and some graphics driver integrations (win32u and etc) as well. So it will take some time to upstream it. They might be added to wine-staging soon. Have fun! Hi, In the process of supporting third party windows DLLs in wine, I'm coming up against several that are blocked on the FIXME for CreateSwapChainForComposition. Their graphics rendering doesn't work - draws blank white - as a result. Rendering happens via a complex interaction between a number of different calls. So I imagine it would be a heavy lift to implement. But I thought it might be used in gaming apps, so there might be some work going on to implement it. Any thoughts or news on these APIs?
