I don't see what the big deal is -- Jer can set one up
in a few minutes, certainly much faster/easier to maintain
than setting up some sort of download area. Moreover,
it allows everybody interested in following these reports
in subscribing to it. And all this for free.

Very nice. Where do you currently upload? If the email is
a problem in terms of coding, Jon Bright donated his SMTP
code... As was stated on the list, if SoBig could do it,
so should we, no? :)

Todd, let's just drop this -- it's clear we're not going to convice any
of the party here to change their views. You're firm on your high horse,
and I'm just glad I'm a Linux not a NetBSD user. With this kind of attitude,
I can see a mass migration towards NetBSD on the desktop. Not.

Hereby I ask people who have access to real Windows machines
So vmware won't do? (I think the answer is no because of directx (Not a problem
for me to do a real install, just asking)).

Well, at this point, "you're welcome," considering the copy you forwarded
back to the list was a private response. Have you read the proverbial
netiquette handbook yet? However, I am sorry for going off the handle in
this case.
See, I'm rather tired of this thread bringing people out of the woodwork
with excuses for violating decades of programming practice, with lame and
bloated runtime checks, when C preprocessor detection of OS features is
valid *even on Windows*. It's rather trivial to say "this binary runs on
NetBSD 1.6.2 or newer; pick the other binary for compatibility with
1.6-1.6.1, but it will be slower" and implement a simple #ifdef check. You
know, like saying "this binary is for Win98 or later; choose the other
binary for more features on Win2k and up". Sound familiar?
"Keep It Simple, Stupid" is a very good motto. Bending over backwards to
try to make one binary run on a dozen OS versions, while providing all
possible features of the newest OS release, is provably a maintenance
headache. It has been done and it has been a pain; that contributed to the
invention of autoconf.
If you want to provide multiple levels of compatibility, provide multiple
builds and indicate what their build environments were. Builds for older OS
releases simply get less features. This doesn't even require multiple
machines; one compiler looking at multiple sets of .h and shared libraries
is enough.

OK, so for win9x we have 95, 98, 98se(This is a major release,I do remember
finding some stuff that could run on 98se but not on 98), me (Well, anything
for 9x runs on me, so wine only needs to support me to support all apps for 9x),
nt4sp6(a?), xp home and pro, and 3 versions of win2k3 (Ok, I aren't counting the
64 bit for now), so it's somewhere in between 6 and 9. Whatever it is, a miling
list, a database and all that other stuff isn't necessary. I can run the tests
on win98se and win2k3 enterprise edition. All I have to do is get that exe that
runs all the tests and outputs them to a file(Someone is half way trough writing
it), and post a message to wine devel when something that did/didn't work
stops/starts doing so, I can do it (Almost) every day if necessary, it doesn't
seem anything difficult to me.

Good Point, I did not realize that we didnt have tests for all API's yet..

Oh yea, I completely forgot that it only advertises the most recent SP for
each major version.. Although I am kind of curious why wine advertises SP6
and not SP6a for NT4, as there are some apps (non-MS ones, but its been so
long since I have used NT that I have forgotten which ones) that require that
SP6a be the version run (or in this case advertised, because of serious bugs
in SP6) in order for them to even install, let alone be run..
