It is getting called from only one place (in LISTVIEW_LButtonDown()) so a few print statements there would be nice to see that (1) it is being called, and (2) that it doesn't exit prematurely. In this case a PE build of the comctl32 would be priceless: you could just replace the native comctl32 DLL on a real Windows installation with our own implementation, and see if the problem persists. Is so, the error is in our comctl32 DLL. If not, it is in the lower layers (message, events, etc.). In fact, a PE build of the comctl32 would be so useful that I'm a bit surprised nobody attempted it thus far... We should offer a full PE build on SourceForge, together with the other downloads. alsa and audioio testing needed for dsound patch

This patch insures that the hardware primary buffer is deleted and recreated properly when changing the primary format. It also makes sure the proper frequency adjust is calculated for the actual format used rather than the requested one. This should only affect oss, alsa, and audioio and I have tested oss already. Please test it with the dsound tests in the interactive mode so sounds are actually played. Make sure "HardwareAcceleration" in the config file is not set to 'Emulation" so the dsound HAL driver is used. Thanks, Bob.

gdb is my friend too. There are many things you can do with that, that you can't do with printf. Anyway I don't want to start a flame here about debugging techniques. [oleaut32] implement VarMod() + tests, fix bug in VarNot()

Added char *vtstr() to enhance test debugging by returning a text string that corresponds to the inputted type. Still have a couple of issues with this change. I'm not sure why the (BSTR) tests fail under wine and not windows, I've wrappered them with todo_wine{} but they still get listed as failures. I'm not sure if the fix to VarParseNumFromStr() is the most correct. It does appear to be exactly what windows does, overwrite the characters in the buffer but lie and return an incorrect character count. Also, testing the types in VarMod() results in some 700k additional tests and adds some time to the tests, something like 6 seconds on my machine. Is this simply too much to test? It certainly helped me nail down the types for VarMod(). Thanks, Chris

I retain a private patch in my tree, which reverts the named pipe patch that causes the crawl. With that, ISE works fine on a current CVS. It is my dream that one of these days, I'll actually have some free time to investigate how named pipes work and maybe try to fix it. I'd be happy to email the diff against the current CVS to you if you want. With ISE, I use an external file editor (because the builtin one is junk), and ISE recognizes when I save a file with the external editor and sets up to recompile. I believe that is the file notification features for that, though I have not verified it.

oh yeah, i also overwrote fe/nhl/html/intro.html with fe/nhl/html/title.html... the demo is available from ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/easports/demos/nhl2004 this is pretty exciting imo because now we have something that uses IE in special ways so it can be used to hammer out some stuff Abdul-Haseeb Ahmad wrote: > YES! Here is my debugging tip: printf is your friend. If you can narrow down the error to the function at which it occurs, place a printf, or fprintf to stderr, after every line of code. The last message that is printed should get you a lot closer to your error. Shameless promotion here. If you install mplayer with the realplayer codecs and get the below link working, but you want you see it in the browser do the following. Get the CVS version of http://mplayerplug-in.sf.net and install it. Then in the $(HOME)/.mplayer/mplayerplug-in.conf file (create the file if missing) set "enable-real=1" and "rtsp-use-tcp=1", delete $(HOME)/.mozilla/pluginreg.dat and restart mozilla and the video should work in the browser window. Hi, I don't know if this is the place to ask this, but anyway here it goes: I'm trying to debug a windows application using wine. The app is compiled with mingw (www.mingw.org) and I tried using -gstabs and -ggdb debug info but same problem happens. The problem is: 1) Using winedbg as server for remote gdb debugger, when execution stops (sigfault, or whatever), and I type 'bt' in the gdb client, no debug info is shown, just lines like this one: #0 0xdeaf1005 in ?? () 2) Running 'wine <myapp.exe>' and then using gdb client to debug the process with the 'attach' command, when execution stops (sigfault, or whatever), and I type 'bt' in the gdb client, debug info IS shown, but line numbering shows always just the first line in the function. For example, say I have this function: void f() { int a=123; *(char *)0=a; } then when sigfault is caught, gdb shows backtrace like this: #0 0x0040130b in f() () at f.cpp:2 even though exception occurs in line 4. Either way, I can't debug a windows app correctly. May I be doing something wrong. I've read the docs and followed instructions for DDD, KDbg, and just plain gbd. We'll also be maintaining an irc channel for the conference; #wineconf on freenode (said channel is already open for business, and will be active throughout the weekend). We've got a test stream up if you want to try your viewer: http://www.winehq.org/wineconf/stream.html I'll point it to the live stream on Saturday morning.
