Sorry, but I don't see what your hangup over the registry is. Remember the .reg files are plain text! You can edit them in whatever editor you like (as long as no wine processes are running at the time, of course).

Using gcc's c++ libraries will not work with msvcrt. If it will compile (which it doesn't) it will not load. (Some circular linking) Your best bet is STLPort. Check it out. What I have done is a special makefiles set with special config.h that compiles and links STLPort over msvcrt. I have written to STLPort if they want my changes as support for another platform but I never got a response from them. Do you need me to dig out the old HD and pack you an STLPort compiled over msvcrt? You might need to make some changes because it is from before winegcc times,. Thanks for details. You do not have different nice levels; that is PRI that is different, which is the "dynamic" priority that constantly changes by the scheduler. It is as I suspected, though - if you renice everything +19 and the problem goes away it is bad programming on the wine developers' part that use what's called sched_yield instead of proper locking between their threads. I seem to recall that at least on the later Debian's the compiler is bi-arch and you can tell it what kind of code to generate. There was a howto somewhere about how to compile a 64-bit Linux kernel on AMD64, and I also seem to recall -m32, but that only really influences the size of ints, longs and pointers, which I believe is the real issue here. One of them which hits eme is the low emtpy space on mounted partitions. When I am installing some big software I usually change the %temp% dir by editing ~/.wine/config to point it to the FS wich has enough free-space. Can I link this library file into my winelib project, and if so how? I cant seem to find any recent discussion on this topic so if you could point me to some I would be very grateful. regards, Scott. At least for the windows and system dirs, they will most likely be embedded in the registry somewhere so you can't change them without reinstalling everything; and there's no real reason to anyway. The best way would be to create a demo program that's as small as possible exhibiting the problem. Then file it with a bug report. But maybe something like WINEDEBUG=+file,+win32,+comm,+server,+relay and a modified Wine with additional traces in the comm area could help? Menu problem: top menu drawn ok, pulldowns miss text

Hello, I have a strange problem with the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary. It, finally¹, starts up but (besides other problems) there is a glitch in the menu. The menu bar looks ok, the dropdown menus work, but the items are empty. The (single?) submenu works again. Even with the default setting I get hundreds of such lines: fixme:ddraw:Main_DirectDrawClipper_SetClipList (0x40410e80,0x4067ea8c,0),stub! Thus I want to do a wise choise for the menus. Perhaps someone could add this to "The dosdevices Directory" at http://www.winehq.org/site/docs/wine-user/config-drive-main#CONFIG-DRIVE-SE… Windows shares can are mapped into the <TT CLASS="FILENAME">unc/</TT> directory so anything trying to access <TT CLASS="FILENAME">\\machinename\some\dir\and\file</TT> will look in <TT CLASS="FILENAME">~/.wine/dosdevices/unc/machinename/some/dir/and/file</TT>. For example, if you used Samba to mount <TT CLASS="FILENAME">\\machinename\some</TT> on <TT CLASS="FILENAME">/mnt/smb/machinename/some</TT> then you can do <PRE CLASS="PROGRAMLISTING">ln -s /mnt/smb/machinename/some unc/machinename/some</PRE> to make it available in wine (don't forget to create the unc directory if it doesn't alrady exist).
