To fix this, we need to submit a group registration: http://freenode.net/group_registration.shtml But they have a backlog...of months, and not single digit months. The only hope for is that the request on behalf of Wine that did go in a while ago may be getting near the top (I submitted a new one today as well). So I've sent email off to Mike and Andi begging them to help us out; I've specifically asked them to make Alexandre the contact. If anyone sees either of them in a bar, please trap them and make them sign on and fix this. Cheers, Jeremy

SetPixelFormat broken in 0.9.54

I run a opengl script that worked in 0.9.53 but crashed in 0.9.54 (and 0.9.55) I traced it failed at this line SetPixelFormat hdc;pixfmt;pfd with the following message in console: X Error of failed request: BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied) Major opcode of failed request: 160 (Composite) Minor opcode of failed request: 1 () Serial number of failed request: 164 Current serial number in output stream: 182 Is this a known issue? ubuntu 7.10 amd64 regards,

Implementing Vertex Blending via vertex shaders means writing a replacement shader for the fixed function vertex pipeline. Henri has started such a thing, but never completed it due to the lack of time and need(as far as I can see "tons of games" means one game and 4 directx sdk samples). Writing the replacement shader shouldn't be that much of a problem. The algorithms are well known and can be read in MSDN, the opengl books or pretty much any book on 3D rendering math. The bigger problem is integrating this work into wined3d in a proper way. I don't know if that is doable for a soc student, my last estimation on that topic wasn't that good. Henri, what do you think? What I want to make clear: To implement Vertex Blending we have to replace the *whole* vertex pipeline. We can't just implement vertex blending. A few things I heard was that Vitaliy says opening the core pointer with Xinput is reasonable, and that he once had a one-liner hack in the X server to make that work. Going by that it would be very simple work, but who knows what fun shows up in the X server.

You can see this with this command: /msg Chanserv info #<channel> The owner is the only person who can add someone at a high level and can genuinely fix things. The Channel server maintains 'levels': /msg Chanserv access #<channel> list shows current access rights and /msg Chanserv level #<channel> list shows what levels are needed. What you need is someone with an level of 30; that is the level required to permanently make someone an op. (To temporarily op someone requires level 10). Only Mike Hearn and Mike McCormack have level 30 on #winehackers. On WineHQ, many more folks have level 30, including myself. Now I had written Mike and Andreas asking them to pick someone active to turn ownership over to; neither of them replied. GSOC (proposal)

Here are my wishes for GSOC: D3DX dlls begin to be implemented. It seems that this could be a good GSOC to implement more feature of this dll, in particular the shader compiler. In the view of wined3d, I think about vertex blending, since there are tons of game using this feature. Stefan, is this doable in the scope of GSOC? Sound should be improved also, since there are games that still crash, in despite of M. Lankhorst's great job ( dmime, quartz,.... dlls problem). And the last but not the least :D: fix the infamous warping mouse bug. I know that it is mainly a problem with X server, but maybe a wine develooper could propose a GSOC to Xorg guys to fix this.
