Well, I did the patch mostly for personal use and dropped here as some might find it useful. If wine ever needs something like this, let's say for testing or for some people wanting to fake display information, or do not want to use XRandR or others for some reason, then it would at least need to support multiple resolutions I guess. ATM it only supports one, also it would be good to get rid of the useless registry keys and just provide one with same syntax as the environment variable one. Both should be easy to implement, I don't know where wine gets/sends the color depth information, so it could be faked too, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. But the patch should do the faking clean way, I guess. It's just another interface like the XRandR selector and such. As for, do we need it? I don't know. I need it :) Correct way to add it? See above, but I highly suspect this ever getting into mainline. It's not correct behavior and is quite niche patch. Does the patch look good? See above, registry keys could be cleaned and multiple resolutions separated with eg ';' letter would be nice. The buildbot does three things to get fast, reliable test runs: - it runs a 'safe' set of tests in the background, without DISPLAY set, in a different wineprefix; this saves three minutes - it has a blacklist of known flaky or broken tests, listing how it's broken and linking to the bug report - it kills wineserver after the run (since some tests leave processes around) I hoisted these out of the buildbot config and into a separate script, http://code.google.com/p/winezeug/source/browse/trunk/buildbot/dotests.sh As a bonus, you can ask it to run all the flaky tests instead of all the good ones, which might be useful if you're trolling for test bugs to fix. Memory would be need to be freed after the batch file is ran, and that is the end of the process. But I have to put the cache in the current batch context, as François suggested, and I'll free them on context destruction.

I think the technical reason for this is that launchpad has a growing intelligence about suggested translations built on its evergrowing database of translations. You might just want to try reopening the file and checking its CLSID, instead of directly checking the contents. That should make it more obvious that something is seriously wrong. With the direct checks, it's hard to figure out what the test actually means. Anyway, this should be easy to fix. We just need to keep track of whether the file has ever had a header, instead of assuming the header is valid if the file is large enough to have one.
